She could still feel the new Threads inside of her, but it was harder now. It felt like they had connected themselves to hers, each one forcibly tying itself to her very being. She felt at one and tried to push it out of her. It resisted, causing minor pain. But it almost seemed to be threatening to make one of her own Threads leave her body.
She felt the difference; it almost felt like someone had tied ropes around her stomach. It seemed harder to breathe, just a little, but the air didn’t feel quite as necessary as it used to be.
In a way, these invading Threads felt almost like Mirth’s. The exception was that because of her connection with Mirth, her Threads didn’t feel invasive when they merged with her - or if they had, her grief in that moment had distracted her from it. But in the new Threads, she could detect three other presences that were each trying to pull her spirit in a different direction.
