If you live in the past, you miss your whole life. That isn’t your life. She held the memory at bay. But she wondered what its voice would have sounded like.

      it has been a law of nature that no Starbucks barista (or any barista in general) can spell even the simplest of names on a coffee cup

    Middle names originate from superstitious people afraid of magic creatures. They thought if their full names were given to a magic creature that the creature would be able to control them, and surnames were necessary (what if there were multiple Johns in a village) so they added “secret” middle names and that’s why it’s weird to tell people your middle name
