  1. Where would it make sense for Asylum and Eza to meet your character?
  2. “Ah, so lucky told you about D&D?” Leucine said in the most ‘done with this’ voice. She brought out a pack of notes that was labeled ‘summary notes: Lucky’. “you know, she’s a lot like most of my players: way too focused on the die rolls to give detail” Leucine yawned and started pulling up her sleeve to reveal an extremely complex stamp on her forearm. “as much as I’d love to explain the wonderful world of dungeons and dragons that asylum has shown me,” she said holding up the pack of notes. “Lucy needs to add today’s memories to the essence stamp or whatever it is she does.” ”Well that was fun wasn’t it?” Asylum said to Eza as Leucine exited the room. “we should probably get some rest too. let me escort you to the guest bedroom.” —————————————————— Keshi, Mistwarrens, The Silver Dagger. Keshi teleported into the shop just as the customers left. He had spent some time probing the shopkeeper’s mind and had determined that he had some cytonic blocking technology in his hat. Good thing he had taken those classes on conventional espionage. Keshi waited until the shopkeeper’s head was turned then teleported through the door behind his desk. This lead to what seemed to be a workshop full of various types of metal in vials or laying around. What was particularly interesting were the guns. While primitive they were never the less impressive. One that caught Keshi’s eye was an incomplete but still quite large gun sitting on a table nearby. Keshi teleported up to the table to find what seemed to be a blueprint next to the weapon. He scanned over it and saw a scribbled note reading: “due in 2 days or else that inquisitor will probably blow off my head.” Keshi took note of this as the door behind him opened.
  3. Asylum, Mistwarrens, Lucky’s Gaming Emporium. Lucky laughed. “Now that’s a funny story that we will definitely need to be seated for.” Lucky brought Asylum and Eza into a dimly lit room decorated with dragons and lots of miniatures. “this is where I do my D&D sessions,” she said. “I just need to get changed real quick.” Lucky ducked into a closet. shortly after Leucine stepped out. She looked a lot like Lucky but instead of short messy hair, her hair was waist length and luxurious. she wore a long, tight black dress. Frankly she looked like a goddess. “let me reintroduce myself.” Leucine said in a voice that screamed ‘I am a theatre kid’. “I am, now, Leucine. Or I always was, but I know I wasn’t 5 minutes ago- you know what I’m going to leave it to Lucy to explain this. I was going to tell the story of how I met Asylum was I not?” Leucine sat down at the head of the large table in the center of the room. “About 6 years ago,” Leucine said dramatically. “Asylum was making their debut in the Alleycity casinos.” ”before they rudely banned me.” Asylum interjected indignantly. ”Do not interrupt my monologuing!” Then, regaining her composure, Leucine continued. “As I was saying, Asylum was having a great time. They made every bloke broke, they cheated, and were overall undefeated. Until a new arrival appeared.” She brought out a miniature that resembled how she had looked only a few minutes ago. “Lucky challenged asylum to a game of chance, but she had a trick in her pants. She rigged the the game. And true to her name, the trickster fell all the way down to hell.” ”I lost all my money,” Asylum translated. Leucine ignored the interruption. “Since that day forward, with dice and sword, the two fought day after day. A friendship formed because, as lucky has sworn ‘there is no one with better whom to play’” Asylum close to tears reached to hug Leucine. “Thank you Leucine.” nimbly dodging the hug, Leucine smiled at Eza. “Does that answer your question?” —————————————————— Keshi, Mistwarrens, Corbeau’s hotel room. “I’ll start with the blind one. I bet it’s hard to hide with two spikes in your eyes,” Keshi said before disappearing. he reappeared in a bar he had visited nearby. He had noted it was high in gossip, and so settling in on a table, he waited. soon a pair of young men walked in. One of them said in an exasperated tone, “I’m telling you my friend saw an inquisitor yesterday!” Keshi listened to their conversation for a little bit before implanting a voice that mimicked the man’s friend, “and what is this friend’s name?” “his name’s Venser. Why do you ask?” the man’s friend seemed confused. “I didn’t.” He said, but Keshi blocked that out and replaced it with, “and where is his workshop?” “he’s the head of the silver dagger. Why are you asking me anyway? Do you want to go inquisitor hunting or something?” before either of the men could realize what just happened, Keshi had Goto teleport onto the sidewalk outside to head for the Silver Dagger. @Koloss17
  4. If Keshi is sent to find clues about Perses’s location, I have a plan for a cool interaction. @Ravenclawjedi42
  5. Keshi accepted the offer of the cabinet and instructed Goto to teleport onto it. He then dismounted and introduced himself. “I am Keshi, until recently I was the prince who was not prince of Evershore. This is my steed Goto, and I am here to redeem myself so that I can return home from exile.” He motioned to the large coin purse strapped to Goto. “But to continue my quest of redemption I require more of your people’s unnecessarily large currency.” he opened one of the saddle bags on Goto and grabbed out a one inch piece of paper that seemed to be a diploma of some sort and handed it to the tattooed man. Almost all of the words were illegibly small but one phrase stood out, “degree for reconnaissance and espionage.”
  6. Asylum looked at the posters and then sighed. “Technically it doesn’t break the rules. I said if we won, we never see him again. That doesn’t mean he can’t send goons, or the people of the city, against us.” Asylum started walking through the alley and gestured for Eza to follow “I know a place we can lie low for a while.” —————————————————— Asylum, Mistwarrens, Lucky’s gaming emporium. Asylum entered the small game shop to see a Selish woman in a bowler hat and suit sitting at the counter. “Lucky! How great to see you my friend.” the woman, Lucky, narrowed her eyes. “Asylum Smedry. remember what I told you would happen if I saw you here again.” She stood for a moment and then burst out laughing. “I’m just kidding. Bring it in. How have you been?” the two hugged and then Lucky saw Eza. “I see why you came here Asylum. Must have gotten real unlucky this time.” ”no, no,” Asylum corrected. “She’s my new traveling companion.” Then to Eza, “Eza say hi to Lucky. The second best gambler in Alleycity.” “My record says otherwise.” Lucky mumbled. “what was that?” ”nothing.”
  7. Asylum stared for a a moment then sighed. “Listen,” they said in their most ‘I’m sick of this dramatic nonsense’ voice. “If I was scared of a few hemalurgists, why do you think I would work for one!” Asylum took a step back to calm down. “Let me make this clear,” they calmly stated. “I can promise you that I am much harder to kill than a steel inquisitor. The fact that you are worried about my safety means you do not understand the power I possess. You should be more worried about that then some extra spiky boiz.”
  8. “let’s just say I’m a danger to those around me,” Asylum said grimly. “Even people I associate with are in danger, so I distance myself from everyone I could love. For their sakes.” Asylum forced a grin. “You should be fine. I don’t think you will be in danger, but you must remember these three things. If you do anything unlucky, knock on wood; avoid the number thirteen at all costs; and finally, if you see a corvid, run.”
  9. “My paren-“ Asylum corrected themself. “The people who housed me as a child were nobles. actually, my whole family is nobles.” Asylum looked down at their new pocket watch. “It’s because of our talents, but I don’t know why they call them talents. They can be useful, yes, but in the end they are chaotic and unpredictable.” Asylum cheered up a bit. “But it’s usually fine. As long as it’s not a blood moon, solar eclipse, or my birthday.”
  10. The jeweler picked up the jewel and eyed it. “Are you sure you don’t want something more… well made.” Asylum looked at the jeweler and grinned, wrong move. “Well if this jewel is as you say ‘less well made’ I think it’d be worth only 40 boxings.” the jeweler looked up with shock. “40 boxings!” He exclaimed. “It’s at least 80!” “50.” ”60!” Asylum smiled. “Deal.” They took the jewel, handed over the boxings, and turned to Eza. “Here you go.” Then much softer, “that’s how you steal without breaking any laws. Well, that and gambling. And taxes. But that’s only for rich snobs.” Asylum started wondering again, with Eza in tow. “But trust me, being a rich snob sucks. Being a noble is so boring.”
  11. Asylum walked up to the jewelry shop where they first met Eza. They had a feeling she would be there. Also they needed a new pocket watch. Asylum couldn’t find quite the right pocket watch in the store, but was determined to get it. A little bit of luck never hurt anyone, they thought as they closed their eyes and crossed their fingers. Finally they opened one eye tentatively to see a pocket watch with four, clover shaped hands. (The extra one went around in intervals of seven and counted the day of the week.) “this one is perfect!” They said picking up the small clock. “how much for it?” ”um,” the jeweler mumbled. “ I didn’t know we had that one.” Asylum loved to see their confusion. ”so is it fre-“ ”100 boxings,” the jeweler interrupted, confidently. impressive. “Sold.” They handed over the boxings and asked, “what would you like Eza?” @Lunamor
  12. So, with the current plot, there seems to be a group of anti-Perses people, neutral people, and pro-perses people. I was thinking we should kind of reestablish who is in each of those groups so that new players can join who they wish. pro-Perses: Perses (duh) by @Ookla the Windwhisperer, Asylum by me, and Eza (kind of, at least through proxy of Asylum) by @Lunamor. anti-Perses: Corbeau by @Ookla thePresentParticiple, lei by @Ookla the Prehistoric, and I think one of my characters would fit in well his name is keshi and he rides a hyperslug. the unaffiliated/undecided: Itsuki by @Ookla thePresentParticiple and Sonyr by @Ookla of Ravens. please tell me if I need to add anyone or if I misplaced someone.
  13. We are still going to do that. I think the idea is that he will continue doing that on the new thread. Also some people might want to join Corbeau’s side (I actually have a character that could join you.) and that would be easier if done on a new thread.
  14. “Well that was anticlimactic,” Asylum said, standing up and stretching. “I’ll be off then.” as Asylum started climbing out the window, the Veden officer got startled and shot the mirror where he thought Asylum was, causing it to shatter. Asylum turned around, mid-climbing through the window, and yelled, “Eza, I’m fine. Just get out and hide. I’ll find you.” Then they jumped out the window and disappeared into the night. @Lunamor @Ookla of Ravens
  15. Asylum looked through the mirror at the shaking police officer. “Took you long enough. Come in, come in, there’s no need to worry.” They rolled their eyes at the officer who stayed completely still. If they stay like this for too long, they’ll notice the ladder, and the mirror. I’ll need to improvise. Asylum grabed a playing card out of their pocket. It was an ace of clubs, but instead of having a black three leaf clover, it had a green four leaf clover. “Maybe you need some encouragement.” They threw the card with an unnatural curve so that it hit the light switch in the room, turning it from on to off. They smiled so that a silver tooth glinted through the mirror. “This better?” @Lunamor @Ookla of Ravens
  16. Asylum narrowly dodged the nightgaurd’s grappling attempt but was caught by the ankle in the process. “you know, I don’t know why you’re helping that obligator. You were hired by this inn, but by the goons that I’ve seen here I don’t think they were the most lawful. I never thought I’d see you the day when a Terris man sides with an obligator.” Asylum renched their foot away and attempted to kick the guard down the stairs. They couldn’t tell if they had succeeded because they were already making their way up to the second floor. The game is on, they thought as they grabbed a ladder from a storage closet and entered their room. First, they locked the door. Then they positioned the ladder directly inside the door so that anyone who walked in would go through it. Third, they positioned the complementary mirror of the room so that it would be pointed toward a reclining chair near the window. Finally, they sat down and waited. @Lunamor @Ookla thePresentParticiple
  17. Asylum laughs. “I don’t know what to think. You’re either very brave or extremely stupid, so I’ll make you a wager. You think you understand this city but I have lived here for 7 years. I challenge you to a simple game. Catch me and I’ll answer all your questions. If you can’t with in the next 10 minutes, you let the girl go and we never see you again.” Asylum grabed a pocket watch out of their pocket and tossed it to the obligator. “Here’s a gift. It should help you keep track of time.” Then Asylum ran to the stairs. This will be fun! @Lunamor @Ookla the Prehistoric @Ookla of Ravens
  18. “Ok, I think that’s enough for today,” Asylum said, their careless demeanor replaced by an unnerving and deliberate tone. “We’ve had our fun, but I think me and Eza will be going.” Asylum took three perfect, soundless steps toward the Obligator. “You know I have heard many stories about people who are extremely unlucky and miserable because of one mistake they made, like pissing off a witch or whatever, I just want what’s best for you.” They then whispered into the man’s ear. “It would be awfully hard to get into office.” Then stepping back. “What do you say officer?” @Lunamor @Ookla of Ravens @Ookla the Windwhisperer
  19. “that’s a great idea! I am Asylum Smedry, and I love green as you could probably see by my suit” Asylum followed Itsuki’s eyes to the bodies and then looked at the almost visible tension between Eza and Perses. “on second thought maybe I should deal with this.” Asylum scooted up to Eza and put a gentle hand on her shoulder. “Perses this is Eza her favorite color is probably gold. Eza this is Perses, my employer, his favorite color is…” they thought for a second. “I don’t think he has one. Not that he can see color anyway.” They reached to lower Eza’s dagger. “now with introductions over we don’t need this anymore, right?” @Lunamor @Ookla the Windwhisperer @Ookla of Ravens
  20. Asylum recognized the stranger but couldn’t quite place who it was… The man’s glasses dropped to reveal to small and familiar spikes. ”Perses?” asylum said, surprised. then more enthusiastically, “Perses! How are you doing man? You know, it’s good to see a friendly face.” Asylum dodged a rogue coin. “woah, that was close. Anyway some people that were investigating you, got them drunk, you know the usual stuff and then I found this girl,” They said while tripping one of the goons. “she’s really resourceful and smart, and here she is now!” Asylum ran over to where Eza was crouching. “are you OK? I told you not to come in this is grown-up stuff you know?” While helping her to her feet, they saw a third familiar face climbing through the window. ”Itsuki?” Asylum said alarmed. “What are you doing here? by the way, I am very sorry for the bar and all that. No hard feelings, right?” A goon hit the wall beside them with a loud thud. “I should probably deal with this.” Asylum picked up a dagger from the fallen goon and hurled it at a goon on the other side of the lobby. It hit him straight in the shoulder and caused him to stagger back into another goon, who then fell and tripped the third. Asylum turned back to Itsuki and Eza. “now where were we?” @Ookla of Ravens
  21. Asylum thought and that was never good, if I feel like I should leave that probably means something’s going to happen so I should probably leave. They took a tentative step outside Bang. A loud metallic band resounded from underneath the inn. well, that settles it. Asylum looked at Eza apologeticly. “just stay here a moment.” They then closed and bolted the door. They turned and walking towards the night guard and receptionist. “please tell me that wasn’t normal,” they said with a gleeful smile.
  22. Asylum smiled. “Well if that’s the case me and my daughter will get going.” they motioned to Eza and started walking towards the exit. Somthing is off, they thought as they reached the door. @Lunamor @Ookla the Windwhisperer
  23. Asylum awoke. there was no sound, no disturbance, but for some reason they felt they should get moving. “Eza, wake up, it’s time to go,” they said, quickly putting on a suit and a green tie with little leprechauns on it. Asylum went out the door and to the lobby where someone was talking to the receptionist. ”Hello, I’m Asylum Smedry,” they said warmly. “I was sleeping when I was suddenly awoken by a sound. Is anything wrong?” @Lunamor
  24. Asylum snapped out of their depression. “Bird poop? Since when was that lucky?” They shook their head. “Every day I learn more and more silly superstitions.” Asylum took a sip of wine and leaned back in their chair. “But to answer your question no, or not until now. I talked to an arcanist about my powers, he bet me that I was using some form of investiture, the way he described it is that I need some sort of intent or that I would have to know about the superstition and believe it for it to work.” Asylum took another big sip. “I find it easier if I don’t think about it too much.”
  25. Asylum hadn’t noticed the scar before, primarily because they were too busy looking at her hands to make sure she wouldn’t steal anything from them. “Most people find My family’s power to be strange, But I think you cosmerians are the strange ones.” Asylum watched as the girl scraped the iron off one of the flasks for easier consumption. “my power or ‘talent’ as we call it, is fairly simple. Have you ever heard that it’s lucky to find a four leaf clover, or that walking under a ladder will make you unlucky for seven years. What are superstitions to others become a reality for me. I have learned to take advantage of this for my personal gain, but it has come with some… downsides.” With that they drew quiet. It’s quite ironic, they thought somberly, she reminds me of a raven.
