    Its his excuse but he doesn't always need an excuse and yes he would be killed unless he insulted some one to old or unimportant to kill Hoid as we know Syl told Kalidan that her old radiant grew old.

    Syl is also an original honor spren and assuming Hoid was on Roshar with the radiants of that time Syl might not remember Hoid but still recognizes him as someone not to trust

    Being a person who does think Shallan is a good character and adds to the books. yes shes rude brash and sometimes straight up mean, Shallan being rude is just how she is and such but her point of view is one of my favorites to read especially since at the beginning of the series when it delves slightly deeper into the history and the lore of the Cosmear and Roshar

    Nightblood is seen to leak investiture in the form of black smoke. does this smoke have any affects on anything? What if Nightblood were to be destroyed would the investiture slowly leake out or would it form a kind of blast of stored investiture?

    It would be much more advantages to have weaker breaths than a few stronger ones it might take less large breaths to awaken an object but if you only need one breath to do something you give much more power than needs to be. Also it would be incredibly difficult to get some one to talk a breath then take it back then find some one else who is also willing without anyone getting or running of with your breath.

    Nightblood seems to display emotion but never rely shown to have any emotion besides the desire to destroy evil and is thought to only have learned to fake her emotions in order to seem more human, so no I don't think you can actually push on the emotions of Nightblood or any awakened object for that matter.

    Hoid came from Yolen a planet predating all current books he gets around through the cognitive realm

    perhaps a very powerful chromium savant could in theory drain a Returned's divine breath if they rely wanted to but only a Returned because a normal persons breath isn't actually being used for it to be drained.
