    Sasha stood, then reached down to help Gail up.

    Sasha smiled. “Did it get lonely?”

    “Oh, it’s okay! Don’t worry. I’m not attached to the idea of having a family.” Or I wasn’t, until I met his. “……..not that much, anyway. Besides, Maren and Jaz were basically like siblings anyway. They were both……. so obnoxious.”

    “Safren is—was?—my boyfriend. Maren and Jaz are friends. I don’t have sisters. Or family.”

    Sasha nodded her agreement. “Yeah. They’re not… scary for me, per se, but… they remind me of things that make me sad. So. I getcha.”

    She smiled. “Yeah.” Then she flushed, embarrassed that she couldn’t remember Gail’s name. Her memory as a ghost had been kind of terrible, but that didn’t make it less embarrassing. @The sarcasm spren i’m kajsa!

    Sasha jerked out of her thoughts, then forced a smile. “Oh. Hi. Yeah, sure.”

    Sasha wandered away. She eventually found herself outside the establishment, sitting on the ground against the wall. The quiet was almost as suffocating as the crowd and somehow made her feel smaller.

    “Well… i-it was nice to meet you.” She smiled, thinking it would be best for her to leave him be.

    “It is crowded,” Sasha admitted.

    “Do you like parties?” She blurted. Dumb question. Of course he doesn’t. Look how nervous he is!
