HALLOWEEN WAS A SUCCESS! I got next to no candy cuz I’m too old for actually trick or treating (as far as my family expectations go lol) but a lot of people commented on my costume (Captain Jack Sparrow) and I’ve nearly mastered my impression of him. I also put the Pirates theme on repeat on my phone and slipped it into my pocket and it was playing wherever I went
And my trick or treat jar was a jar of dirt

Assah nodded slowly. Weird, you think she’d know more about her family… “…cool.” She broke a piece off her cookie and offered it to Lilac, eyebrows raised.

“A lot. But I doubt we think about them the same way.” Assah shrugged and pulled a cookie from her bag. She turned it over in her hands a few times before sinking her teeth into it and tearing free a bite. With her mouth full, she asked, “You said you grew up with your mom. Did you have any siblings?”

"I always spent my free time training for the Games. Or watching tapes of the old ones."

Assah snorted. "Thanks?" She turned her focus to chewing on her nails.

Assah glared at her and answered the question coldly. "I don't know what I am."

Assah frowned but said no more on that strange note. "I'm a career from District 2, and I don't have much family. I'm 17."

"Sorry, you said you never watched the Games?" Assah looked appalled. Everyone was supposed to watch them. Not to view them was a violation of the law. "I can't imagine that. I thought you could be executed for refusing to watch them."

"I don't care. Whatever you'd like. Tell me about yourself. Where did you grow up? How old are you? Did you ever like watching the Games? Things like that."

Assah found the creature and bashed it to death, then decided that it wasn’t edible after all and just tossed it into the brush outside their shelter. “Well… there goes dinner.” She turned to Lilac, then sat down cross-legged, club resting in her lap. “We may as well get to know each other.” Gain some advantages.

Assah creeps around, looking for the squirrel-thing, club ready in hand. You should attack the girl, it would be so easy. But she showed no signs of hostility towards Lilac.
