HELP!

I'm going to a friend's house to play DnD today for the first time and we were talking about it yesterday but I had NO idea what he was saying : P

What are the basics that I NEED to know to play?

  Alright, I'm a noob at DnD so my knowledge is limited.
  
  But here is what I do know.
  
  Basically, the players make characters and start roleplaying like one would. You role dice while you're making your characters to see how much charisma, strength, etc your character has. You go along in the rp with your characters meeting. The Dungeon Master does some stuff like guiding the plot and making monsters appear. And that's all I know... also, prepare to roll a lot of dice.
