    Wren started to dodge, but hissed in pain as he got hit anyway. He twisted, falling out of reach.

    Well…not quite. It’s a strange world. The arena is just like Threnody, but it’s technically not on the planet.

    Wren didn’t answer, just grinned and ran in close, ducking under her blade and slashing with yet more daggers.

    “What do you want?” She snapped.

    Wren snorted. “I don’t work for money.” The power again dissipated, and as it did he flicked his wrist, and three more daggers flew at Aster.

    Rue spat as the gateway disappeared. She felt a tear drip down her cheek and brushed it away furiously. Weak…too weak…your enemy will always be stronger than you are…she let out a scream of rage and let a huge wave of Air fly outward from her, destroying trees and underbrush. She stood there breathing for a long moment, then made her own gateway back to the clinic.

    “We have our orders,” Wren said simply. Her power dissolved as it hit him.

    Wren gave her a sad smile. “That’s not what I said.” He threw a knife at her neck.

    “I’m not asking for a fight. But I’m not going to just let them go, either.”

    Wren looked at her sadly, then murmured something in an unknown language and nodded to her. “You wish to fight, then?”

    I WANT BLOOD!! I WANT THE GROUND TO BE SO SOAKED AND STAINED WITH BLOOD THAT IT WILL NEVER BE CLEAN AGAIN. And luckily, I think that’s very possible.

    Wren gave her a long look, then turned to Thorn. “Protect these two,” he said, then floated to the ground as he forced her magic to stop affecting him. “Why do you care so much about them?” He asked Aster. @The Wandering Wizard

    Tal smiles kindly at her. I know what you mean. But…nothing? Age, family, name, powers? You have wings. Do those mean anything to you?

    The entrance was very empty and, for some reason, Tal kept thinking about the newcomers. Cursing himself for getting involved, he walked back to the medical wing and the little girl. Hey, he said into her mind. Are you okay?

    I think that’s how it is for our guys. We have a few more girls, though, so there’s like 2 of us who aren’t in it. (It’s funny, because sometimes the 4 kids in my family, who are all between 11 and 18, are the only ones who come to the activities…)
