Siylna gives Victor one last hug. "Heal, and be safe, my love. I need to go run our games...I'll be back when I can though." Then she turns, and starts walking down to the dungeon.

Rue had already turned away, assuming he was listening.

Rue glanced at him. "Don't," she hissed. "If you get into a fight, none of us will survive this."

They don't need you...no one does... Rue heard the screaming. "Come on. That's our cue to get moving." She walked briskly into the tower.

"Yes, I do," Rue snaps. "The clinic needs to be protected from Nameless." Weak...you are so very weak...

Rue shakes her head. "No," she says out loud. "I just need to get off this light-cursed planet."

"A dramatic tantrum," Rue clarified. "I assume you have some form of magic, use that." "Up to you." Rue looked at him, then looked away, embarrassed.

Rue shrugs. "Instead of making something explode or causing a fight, just...throw a tantrum, maybe? Don't seem dangerous, that's the most important thing." Rue gives him a sharp nod.

Siylna put a hand on his shoulder. "It's me and you, okay? It's me and you, and we really are on top of the world."

"Sorry," Rue whispered. "I'll be okay." You are weak. You are useless. You are causing problems. Rue looked away from TAAron and nodded at them. "This is helping to protect the clinic. If you'd rather not go in, you can cause a subtle distraction or go back through the gateway."

Rue just shrugged. Mentally, she forced the wagon away. That was a long time ago...but the floodgates were open now, no matter how she'd tried to keep them shut. Dozens more pictures and scenes flashed through her mind, and she gasped out loud at the suddenly flood of life in her head.

Rue opened her mouth to snap at him, then stopped and nodded. "That...might be nice," she murmured. She watched a young girl in a white dress walk into the tower. She had been a young girl like that, once. She had...she...this is home, a piece of her whispered. This is where I belong...and then another piece of her denied it. No. The clinic is home. More than this place ever was. Yes, yes, that was right...a brightly colored wagon appeared in her mind for just a moment.

Rue nodded, hesitated, then shrugged. "I doubt I'll ever be ready."

"We should probably go in now," Rue says, not moving.

Rue smiled back sharply, though it faded quickly and her eyes didn't change. She just kept looking at the sky, her gaze cold and broken.

Rue stiffened. "Please...don't...just not here. Not on this world. Please."
