“Stupid.” Dolly threw another rock. “Stupid, stupid, stupid!” With each word, she hurled another rock. Their ineffectiveness only made her angrier. “I am not their little experiment.”
“Getting out.” She hurled the rock with all her strength. Then (unless the glass doesn’t shatter in which case um this does not happen) she pulls herself up a tree and out into true sunlight.
Dolly quickly turned away, looking back up at the sun. I’m glad they have each other. If I can’t get them out, they won’t be alone. I have something better, waiting. They are waiting, aren’t they? Or looking? Why haven’t they come?
Dolly gritted her teeth. “I want to be friends too, but I’m not going to give in to them. Not after…” Not after what they’d done to Astor. “We don’t have to keep talking about it. But I am not an experiment, and neither are you.” She raised an eyebrow at Null, her earrings catching the sunlight.
Dolly watched the hug, smiling faintly. Her eyes were sad.
