Okay guys, I’ve got a writing exercise for you.
i do this a lot when I can’t get into a flow, on days where I’ve written a couple hundred words and deleted them and done it again about five times. So today, for example.
you take a line of ambiguous dialogue and start a scene with it (on PAPER) and write one page in a notebook of that scene. (In a notebook, so pages are smaller than if you type). If a page is too much, set a timer for 5-10 minutes. Then do it again. Start with the same line, but take the scene in a whole different direction. A really fun one for this is
“get up.”
”no.”
but today’s official dialogue line is as follows:
”Catch me. I dare you.”
you can also end a scene with it or put it in if you’ve got an idea. Do like three baby scenes, and then you can continue anything you want to, but you don’t have to. If you make anything cool, show me!
