InfiniteInsanity replied to Through the Living Hope's topic in Roleplaying
Insa hesitated, “Well I’m used to working in a team. Both with people who aren’t in the immediate danger zone and those who are. I won’t deny that it would be nice and helpful to do this all with other people like physically there helping. But it’s important that you understand that it won’t be easy and will be dangerous. So if you wanted to help from a distance there would be ways for that to happen too.”- 2256 replies

Insa smiled as she placed it in her ear. “Thank you Pic.” As the pain faded away her thoughts became a lot more clear. She watched Pic and Aventine for a moment and sudden wave of sadness and fear washed over her as she remembered Bookwyrm. She shoved it down as she turned to Ash. ”I have a rough outline of a plan. I’ll go to Ian’s parents house and talk to them to get an idea of what’s going on. Then using that information I’ll find Bookwyrm and get him out.” ”That won’t satisfy Saar.” ”I won’t satisfy me either. Once I know Bookwyrm’s not dead I’ll take care of the Head and Ian’s dad should be able to step in lead efforts to fix Palli after that.”- 2256 replies

Insa continued, “After 4 months the Head and his advisors were fed up with me. The punishments increased. I was barely surviving and still trying to help everyone else. After not communicating with me for almost a year Saar told me that I was going to die if I stayed. I figured if I left there would be hope for people still that wouldn’t exist if I died. So I left. I don’t remember how or anything after that until walking into the Clinic.” She looked at Ash again. “I recognized Bookwyrm when I got here and was happy to see him so I assume he helped me somewhere along that path. That’s why I can not just sit here if he’s there.” Ash shook her head, “You will die. You have no plan. You’re going to let all your decisions be guided by emotion and you’ll die.”- 2256 replies

Insa nodded, “It was awful.” Ash nodded too, “There were some stories of rebel groups or plans to rebel every now and then for a while. And then like 12?” She glanced at Insa who nodded, “12 years later you started to hear stories of a pretty serious rebel group though in the stories they seemed a lot older than they were.” Ash looked at Insa as if expecting her to pick up the story. But she didn’t, she just stared into the air. So Ash kept going. “After about 2 years they stopped. But somehow people started to figure out what was happening to the people who were disappearing about 6 months earlier. They were being sent to death camps. The news wasn’t good. Most people didn’t make it past the first night. About a month after the rebellion stories stopped stories of a lightning warrior started to circulate. She, which surprised too many people, gave people hope and was saving lives. Some people started to come back after disappearing. They told us all how much this warrior put on the line. She was often punished harshly but still she did what she could.” Insa made eye contact with Ash, “It was never enough.”- 2256 replies

Insa sat down, "He's a power-hungry evil maniac who somehow ended up in charge. Palli was an amazing place to be before him. We had good leaders, and people were happy. There wasn't magic in most of the population, but it wasn't evil. In fact, it was usually respected. When I was around 3 or 4, he staged a coup and took over. Things immediately went downhill." Ash chimed in, "People started disappearing, and the economy took a huge hit. No one really knew what to do. He started spouting lies about people who use magic, that we were dangerous and evil." Insa nodded, "He never gave a name, and no one really knew who he was. He's just the Head."- 2256 replies

"So it just like covers the pain, right?" Insa nodded, "That'll work. I'll wear a jacket." Ash threw her hands in the air, "That doesn't change the fact that you still don't have a plan. Where would you go?" "The blacksmith shop." "Insa, The Head knows you're alive. Do you really think he's not watching your blacksmith shop?"- 2256 replies

Insa smiled gratefully and nodded. "I could use makeup to cover it." Ash shook her head, "If Saar decides she wants it showing, she'll make sure it shows. What even is your plan?" Insa was quiet for a moment, "I hadn't gotten there yet." Insa eyed the amp, "I would love that, but I'll need you to explain your plan first." Insa smiled, "That would be appreciated."- 2256 replies

Ash sighed, "And if you go and you get caught, you'll die." "I survived it for 4 months before." "Last time you weren't a legend, people told each other to give them hope and have a huge scar, two huge scars that give away your identity." Ash turned to a cupboard and pulled out a small bottle of ibuprofen. "Try this." Insa took two pills. Oh, darling, do you really think those will help? Shut up.- 2256 replies

Insa spun around. She had sort of forgotten everyone was in here. "My boyfriend, who I haven't heard from in months, might be on my home planet. I was put in a death camp for 4 months. All magic is considered cursed by those who are in power, and those who can use it are used, abused, and manipulated by desperate people. It's dangerous." Ash frowned. "Where is this information even coming from?" Insa paused. "...Saar." "You don't trust her." "But if she's not lying and I don't go and he dies," Insa trailed off.- 2256 replies

Insa sat down on the bed in the room they were in. My new information can't wait much longer, dear. Fine. Go ahead, tell me. I think it'll be better if I show you. An image appeared in the air. It was Bookwyrm. The image seemed to zoom out and show his surroundings. Insa frowned. It looked a lot like her blacksmith shop on Palli. Then the image changed, and he was near her old home. Then he was knocking on a door. Ian's door. The image faded into nothing. Saar? Are you somehow trying to imply that Bookwyrm is on Palli? Those are all real, I swear. Insa cursed under her breath. How old are those? I'm not sure. If you're wrong, I'll kill you myself. Silence. Insa stood quickly, and the pain suddenly increased again. She glared at, well, the air, but it was intended for that stupid goddess who refused to leave her alone. She rushed back into the other room and over to Ash. "Bookwyrm may be on Palli, and if so, he's either dead or imprisoned in some way. I need to go find out, so I'm going back. Do you perhaps have a pain medication I could take before I leave?" Ash just stared at her. @Spark of Hope @Ancient Elantrian @Cash67- 2256 replies

Oh yes, Guy who rides around on an electric bike as loud as he can (somehow, I promise this makes sense) and also tries to do tricks - you are just as cool as the guy in the really loud big truck in front of you.
But you know who has you both beat?
The couples who ride around together on electric scooters.

Insa nodded. "Well, if there's something I can do for y'all, let me know." She turned to Ash. "I need your help with something real quick." And she turned to leave the room. Ash started to follow her and then turned back real quick. "I'll be back soon. In the meantime, if you need my help," She pointed, "red button." Insa pulled Ash into the room next door. "Remember the scar on my neck?" "Of course, how could I forget?" "I saw something like it on my back." Insa took a deep breath. "I don't want to see how big it is, but we- I need to know." Ash gave her a weird look. "...What?" "Saar's back. The scar is back. I am in pain. Just like before. I need to know whether there's a small point of connection or whether it's large. I don't want to look. Yet. So..." She pulled a top out of the pocket of her skirt. "I'm going to put this on and you'll be able to see my back and my arms. Tell me how much it covers, or how big it is." Insa moved into a corner and pulled a curtain closed to change. The conversation continued. "How long Insa?" "I noticed it between arguing in the hallway and apologizing to Aventine. Saar communicated with me right after killing Aventine's father." Insa stepped out from the curtain. The top was just a very simple halter top with a lower back. She turned around so Ash could examine her back. Ash sucked in a breath. "Insa..." "How bad is it, Ash? Just be straightforward with me." Ash was silent for a moment. "It covers like half your back and then stretches like halfway down your arm." Insa nodded. "I figured." She snapped, and the shirt she had been wearing previously was back. "I need a minute. You can go back now." Ash frowned. "Insa..." "I'll be fine. I'll join y'all in a moment." Ash nodded slowly and then headed back to the other room.- 2256 replies

Inside lay two rings and a chain to go with each. The same pattern was engraved in both of them "Where I come from, all jewelry has special meaning. Often, mothers will have a ring set with each of their children. Most people believe that's what brings a mother's intuition. So it connects them. These, when worn, will connect you. If you're separated again, you'll have a more direct connection to each other and a more reliable means of communication." She motioned to them. "The patterns I engraved stand for the first letter in each of your names. They can be worn like regular rings. Or," She pulled up a chain that had gotten tucked beneath her top, a ring was the only charm, "like this on a chain. This is the one I shared with my mother."- 2256 replies

Insa leans on the counter, attempting to recover and force the pain away. Saar. Turn it down a couple of notches, please. Only because I don't want you to crack your head open and die when you pass out. The pain dulls to something much more tolerable. Her whole body relaxes. "Oh! I almost forgot." She hands a small box to Aventine. "These are for you and Gem."- 2256 replies

Insa tried to sound as genuine and compassionate as possible. She meant everything she was about to say but the pain made it hard to sound or look that way. “First my actions have caused you a lot of pain. I don’t regret taking them. But I regret and hate with all my being the pain it’s causing you. I know I don’t know perfectly but I have a good idea of what you’re feeling right now and if there were any way for me to take that away from you without dehumanizing you I would. Without any hesitation.” The pain increased dramatically. Insa stabilized herself with the arms of the chair trying to avoid passing out. ”Second,” her voice was less steady and she wasn’t quite looking at them, “I haven’t been the most compassionate with you when I should have been. I allowed my numbness to bleed into how I treated you and others and that is the exact opposite what I should have done.”- 2256 replies

As Insa made her way down the hallway, the pain in her shoulder grew until it was almost unbearable. What the heck? You shouldn't apologize. I'm going to whether you like it or not. The pain won't stop. I don't care. Insa entered the room and moved to grab a chair with her left hand. She gasped as pain shot through it upon making contact with the chair. Quickly, she grabbed the chair with her other hand and moved it so she was sitting in front of Aventine. "I owe you an apology." @Spark of Hope- 2256 replies

Aventine? Most likely to feel loved and supported. The simple truth is her dad didn't truly love her. My guess is that's where most of the pain comes from, that she'll never get to feel that love. Insa As Insa walked, a tingling pain began in her shoulder. Why are you going to apologize? Because Saar. That's what you're supposed to do when you hurt someone. Insa entered her room and changed her clothes. She transitioned from traveling to something outwardly less practical: a long, flowing brown skirt paired with a simple long-sleeved white blouse. She twisted her hair up into a low bun. She used a special mirror to do so. As she fussed with her hair, something else caught her eye. At the base of her neck on the left side was the beginning of a scar much like the one Lerac had removed from her. It looked like it could stretch down her arm. She froze as a thought occurred to her. You shouldn't be able to talk to me. Oh, Insa. Your boyfriend is gone. Nothing is stopping me from doing anything. A shudder ran through her. She didn't respond as she finished doing her hair and began to make her way back to the infirmary.- 2256 replies
