Me, 50 pages into Name of the Wind, completely jump scared:

pdf's suck

Why do I have to be tired all the time
------
Anyway, I've started The Name of the Wind because a lot of people were saying to read it. I'm 15 pages in, which isn't much but I like that it isn't in 1st person present *strangled cry of despair*
The tbr has never been longer, which I guess is a result of rotting my brain on booktube videos, but in my defense
I found out recently that the school wifi doesn't block storygraph which is pretty cool. I feel like I need to come to terms with my goal of reading 40 books by the end of the year because that is *not* happening lets be honest. Buuuut I *want* to read lots of stuff . . . I just need to stop being chronically online mayhaps.
ummm yeah.
Oh! Thoughts on rop so far:
It's meh. Objectively, kinda bad but not glaringly so as it was last season. I've actually liked a few scenes. It is pretty easy to laugh at, and I have laughed out loud several times when I was not supposed to sooo maybe I'm just enjoying it because I will never take it seriously.
Tom Bombadil yesterday was kinda frustrating. Unsurprisingly, Amazon is trying to make him into a reluctant hero/mentor who cares deep down and wants to save the world.
But like. . . I know that good ol' Tom doesn't care. It's just not his business, y'know? He's too busy with the lily pads. Heaven forbid we have a true neutral character in our fantasy story, right?
Also, unpopular opinion, but I really don't like how the elves are constantly switching between elvish and common. It feels really unnatural. Like yes, it does have it's place in some scenes, when the fact that they're speaking elvish has some meaning to it, but when it's a scene with just elves, and then they've no reason to use common at all! I doubt real bilingual people switch it up like that, and it bothers me.
I would rather the whole thing be in common (except for significant bits when they *need* elvish), or have every scene with only elves be in their language and be subbed. The switching around breaks the immersion for me idk.
okay morning brainrot is done thank for you coming
