  1. Are we also cracking down on the survival mechanics like finding food and water? That was a big thing in the first games, but has gotten a lot more lenient.
  2. Maybe I'm biased, but bad Silmarillion reviews are so funny to me. Just genuinely hilarious.

"It just felt like a summary."

    That's the point.

"There was too much describing and stuff!"

    Thaaaaat's the point.

    "It was too exposition-y."

That's the entire literal purpose of the book.

"It just felt like the bible."

    THAT'S THE POINT

*cough* okay I'm done. I just find it so funny when people read Tolkien expecting modern, action-oriented fantasy (and maybee just maaaybee it bothers my biased little self a little bit)

Yeah it's a collection of myths, legends, and early histories of Middle-earth. It's not going to read like a Sanderson book, or like a GRRM book, or like any other modern fantasy book, because it isn't one.

And I'm NOT saying your not allowed to dislike it, or that you can't critique it. What I'm saying is, you should try to understand a piece of media in context before critiquing it. Because if the thing you find 'wrong' with it was actually intended, then it might not be bad writing, just your own misunderstanding of what it was meant to be.

(and this goes for all media too)

I feel there should be a clean line in reviewing or critiquing something, where you express whether the opinion is based on how the book made you feel, VS how good the book is from a more objective, literary analysis perspective. Unfortunately, both types of opinions are forced to exist in the same space.

  3. "Alright, It's not urgent so take your time."
  4. "I already agreed back in the cave place!" Aki said. "No need to ask me again."
  5. Forced myself to go to school even though I've been sick the last while, and I'm immediately regretting it 😭 . . . hopefully I feel better as the day goes by.

      hehehe

I got sick last night, but I'm already mostly better.

      This always happens.

My family has been sick for two weeks and I caught this cold yesterday and it's almost gone.

      I LOVE IT.

      Feel better, y'all!

    FANTASY-NO MAGIC

"Very well," August shot her grin, "Then I will take the invitation and remain mysterious myself." ". . . It's getting late," July interjected. He wouldn't admit it, but learning so much and working all day lately had left him exhausted. "We should all turn in."
  8. He tries even harder not to be disturbed. "But if I were the suit it won't be connected directly to my brain . . . right?'

    FANTASY-NO MAGIC

"Oh, this is an old friend of mine." July explained, "He's going to help us." August nodded.
  10. "Oh, nice." Aki said, trying to hide his concern about how SIMON was inside his head.
  11. oh whoopsie hey, seriously though, don't worry about the worldbuilding, it's always been extremely nebulous and vague (I mean . . it's a HGxCosmere crossover, not exactly the clearest thing to outline). Actually having something concrete is really exciting!

    FANTASY-NO MAGIC

"Oh, it's you," July remarks as he comes up. "Can I . . . help you?" August asked, curious. "He can't talk," July explained.
  13. Okay! Yeah, I can't remember if there used to only be four, or if we were only going to rp four so it was manageable for the gm's. Either way, that can just be the general location of each one before the 100 year time-skip. Feel free to move them too, they don't need to be in those specific spots.
  14. "Did you make your eyes change too?" Aki asked after noticing. "That must be handy."
  15. "Alright then, we'd better make sure you take it easy then." Aki hands him a dry, tasteless cracker to eat.
  16. Aki helps him into the ice hut, careful not to get any burns. "Well, you still seem close enough to Nick to me, I mean, you probably have the same soul in there right?"

    FANTASY-NO MAGIC

"I see." He said flatly. "Why are you involved in this, if I may ask? Did July push you into it." "I didn't." July said, rolling his eyes.

    FANTASY-NO MAGIC

"Thanks!" July called after him. August followed her gaze, putting two and two together. "So . . . You've yet to introduce yourself," He managed to say with awkward grace.
  19. "Hey! Is that Nick?" Aki stuck his head out of the hut.

    FANTASY-NO MAGIC

"Oh, alright. I'll probably finish talking with these folks before turning in," July explained, gesturing at August and Ma'tani. @The Bookwyrm
  21. uummmmm well I will say, for Amyra Ay, the capitol had a pretty strong choke-hold on the city. I lead the RP in that thread for a good while, so a lot of worldbuilding nuances were up to me. There were a lot of peacemakers, and a large military base/ peacekeeper center in the middle of the city. I think having it be inside the dystopia would make more sense, if there's a new oppressive government, they could use the strength they already had there. Amyra Ay was also surrounded by farmland/ plains so geographically, it'd be in the middle of the continent. As for the other districts, I did skim their threads, but not as much happened so I can't really say. Most of them consisted of slums and workhouses, and then wealthy areas with large houses (so not like there's geographical features to help decide). It might be worth checking with the people who were involved with those ones, if they have any opinions, but I don't think it would really matter either way which side they're on. Sure! I can do a quick mockup of were I'd put them! give me an hour or so. EDIT: Okay, forget an hour How's this placement? I just tried to make things evenly placed:
  22. I actually missed this bit: I'm not an expert, but I think it'd be worth placing the old districts (that have their own thread here) somewhere on the map. A lot of lore relevant stuff went down in Amyra Ay for me, and I have some important character locations there as well.
  23. Thanks! Congrats on being a GM, that's awesome!
  24. THE DEDICATION ITS BEAUTIFUL Also: "The Dystopia" Should be the real name, I think it's cool. It could be like, deep and stuff Also again: Your final time skip post was 7 years later, but will the games take place a little while after that? How long would that be? I need to know for family tree and tribute age purposes. Also again again, but not for Bookwyrm, for the gm's: Do we have a time frame for the start of the sign up thread and the next games? Or is it still too soon.
  25. Lolll the one I wasn't really in, I see how it is (jk)
