  1. "You still don't seem to understand that you killed however many thousand of people for no good reason! Loss of life ought to be avoided whenever possible."
  2. "Don't be a fool. If you start making military decisions based off of emotional urges, you will run yourself into the ground. There is no need for revenge in war, you must be pragmatic."
  3. "I would have attempted to diplomatically resolve the issue now that the advantage had been removed from their camp, and only attacked if it was clear that there was no potential for nonviolent resolution."
  4. TAAron opened his mouth to speak, but Lerac cut him off. "I hear you used a military advantage that 'Evander' here used in good faith to politically destroy an entire nation in the most violent way possible. Explain?"
  5. He looked unconvinced, but did not argue further. "I don't really know what to say, but I'll try."
  6. "I'm sorry, it just... it felt like it was only a matter of time before I messed something up and hurt you. And here I did."
  7. TAAron approached them from behind, and had apparently been listening to the conversation. "I think I did... kind of. When I showed her the talisman, for a second there was this glint in her eyes. But I ignored it. It is my fault."
  8. "Okay, I'll be honest. I really don't get that."
  9. "Well, call me stupid, but don't you think the anger is unjustified?"
  10. "Did he know that she was going to do that?"
  11. "Yes, Ashli did that. What did he do?"
  12. TAAron followed, as did Lerac, who caught up to Haly. "Why exactly are you angry at him?"
  13. TAAron nodded quickly and turned back to her. "You are angry, aren't you."
  14. "I still feel responsible. There has to be something I can do." He noticed Haly. "Haly, I'm so sorry. It's fine if you're angry with me... You probably should be. Maybe I'll just go. I should go."
  15. "No! I think she had good intentions, and if she didn't it's my fault for listening to her. I should still go and... what do I do?"
  16. "No, I should fix it. It's my fault." TAAron began subtly shaking again. "My fault..."
  17. "What? I..." He looked at her, hurt. "You know I don't understand these things very well, Haly. I was just told that stealing it would be the best course of action to protect you, to protect your country."
  18. "I don't know. I didn't expect that. I'm sorry, Haly, I didn't realize that that could happen."
  19. TAAron inhaled sharply. "Wow. I..." He shook his head, dumbfounded. "Ashli did say she would use the talisman against the Nolikans, but I didn't expect it to be so quick."
  20. TAAron looked concerned. "What? What is it?" He looked over at the scroll in her hands.
  21. Both Lerac and TAAron turned to face the messenger. "Yes?" Lerac asked.
  22. A boy stepped through the portal, very young and with blood dripping from a long cut on his arm. He looked at Kris, expression emotionless except for and odd intensity or focus. @Shallan Stormblessed
  23. He still showed no reaction. He just looked down at the cut, which was quickly beginning to bleed, then back up at her. Then he turned and walked away.
  24. He stood for a moment, watching her. Then he took out his dagger and traced a small cut along the length of his forearm, not even wincing at the pain.
  25. His face was still stuck with that odd, emotionless expression. He looked up at her and held out a snack that he must have taken from his room.
