"You still don't seem to understand that you killed however many thousand of people for no good reason! Loss of life ought to be avoided whenever possible."
"Don't be a fool. If you start making military decisions based off of emotional urges, you will run yourself into the ground. There is no need for revenge in war, you must be pragmatic."
"I would have attempted to diplomatically resolve the issue now that the advantage had been removed from their camp, and only attacked if it was clear that there was no potential for nonviolent resolution."
TAAron opened his mouth to speak, but Lerac cut him off. "I hear you used a military advantage that 'Evander' here used in good faith to politically destroy an entire nation in the most violent way possible. Explain?"
TAAron approached them from behind, and had apparently been listening to the conversation. "I think I did... kind of. When I showed her the talisman, for a second there was this glint in her eyes. But I ignored it. It is my fault."
"I still feel responsible. There has to be something I can do." He noticed Haly. "Haly, I'm so sorry. It's fine if you're angry with me... You probably should be. Maybe I'll just go. I should go."
"What? I..." He looked at her, hurt. "You know I don't understand these things very well, Haly. I was just told that stealing it would be the best course of action to protect you, to protect your country."
TAAron inhaled sharply. "Wow. I..." He shook his head, dumbfounded. "Ashli did say she would use the talisman against the Nolikans, but I didn't expect it to be so quick."
A boy stepped through the portal, very young and with blood dripping from a long cut on his arm. He looked at Kris, expression emotionless except for and odd intensity or focus.

He still showed no reaction. He just looked down at the cut, which was quickly beginning to bleed, then back up at her. Then he turned and walked away.
