  1. In panic, Vena grabbed hold of her magic, fighting the instinct telling her to let it happen as it may. I can choose now. As the serpents crashed down upon her, a single word formed that was cast into their minds. BEGONE. A flash of blue light, brighter than the sun, illuminated the area. It tore through the serpents, inspiring terror and action. They fled immediately. Vena vanished.
  2. I'm Vena, emissary of the Arbiter. Turn away from our group and let us pass!
  3. I didn't work. Vena wasn't material at all in the first place. She whipped around, seeing Rallohir. "No! Get back! I'll be okay!"
  4. Vena continued to stare up at the things. She began to manifest her magic, but froze. Not my purpose.
  5. "I guess not. I'm sorry, I just... promise me you'll think about it first before deciding anything. I don't think it'll do you much good to-" Vena got cut off. Of course, she couldn't get thrown forward, but the thing couldn't hurt her anyway. She stared up at the creatures. I... should do something.
  6. What distinguishes those from other sleepy noises?
  7. Vena stopped next to him, looking stunned. "Oh. I, uh, don't know what to say. Maybe you should consider that a bit more. Before making a conclusion about... what your feelings mean." She had gone somewhat red herself, but quickly corrected it. Vena didn't finish her line of thought, as she figured it wouldn't be very productive. Especially when it comes to someone... something like me. She found her emotions raging indiscernibly. That was happening a lot today. After a few moments that felt like hours, she calmed down somewhat, and began to walk again. @Rallohir
  8. "Why? In what way?"
  9. She seemed a little confused by this. "Am I missing something?"
  10. She met his eyes and smiled. "Well I guess I can believe that I do to you, at least."

  12. Vena listened attentively. Her steps in the snow were silent, and she left no footprints. The cold was biting, but she was completely unaffected. Occasionally, she glanced over to see his expression while he talked. When he finished, she waited a minute or so before speaking. "I'm... sorry you've been through so much. But I'm glad that it's made you better, and that you've maybe found a better life for yourself. I hope it goes well for you. Maybe you'll find people for you here. Nothing could replace what you lost, but it'd be something."
  13. "Okay." She remained silent for a moment. "Tell me about yourself. I guess I should be getting to know people if there's any chance that I'll stay around."
  14. "I guess so." Vena sighed. "Sorry, I've sort of... indirectly burdened you with all this. You can go ahead with the others, if you like."
  15. She followed. "But what if people don't see me like they see other people? What if they can tell? Or what if I can't feel the same things other people feel?"
  16. "I'm... scared." Vena averted her eyes. "We should get going."
  17. Vena watched her go. She spoke so only Rallohir could hear. "You should have just left me. I'm not what you think I am. I'm just a facade." @Rallohir
  18. "I don't mean physically. I mean I don't have a past, I don't have any of the connections and foundation that people have. I'm just an empty shell pretending to be a person, created for a specific purpose that I don't have anymore."
  19. "I don't know my purpose anymore. And... I don't know. You all have told me that I should stay, but once I'm gone I'm sure I won't be missed for long. I'm not even really a person, anyway."
