    When she was through, TAAron concentrated on the sphere for a moment. Wherever Eddie was, hers began to glow more strongly. "Hello?"

    "Okay. Go ahead, then."

    "How will you get far away?"

    "Well, I think the two spheres might be able to connect to each other out of the normal range of just the one."

    He smiled. "I can see that. There's one other thing I'm hoping the two spheres can do together, but I don't know if we can test it right now."

    "That's great! Can you connect it to me?"

    "It's okay if you no longer feel that way. I wouldn't expect you to. I certainly don't deserve it."

    Vena paused, then nodded.

    They disappeared, all expect for Rue's. TAAron's voice spoke in her mind again. "Seems like it."

    "Right." He held one, concentrated, and the light seemed to cast beyond the confines of the room. Many small sparks of light appeared, each marking a soul.

    "I did fail. You and Elan 1 died in that fight. I'm lucky you ended up surviving. Anyway, you can always keep trying. It's not hopeless. Even if you lose everything, you don't deserve to die."
