He tightened his hug. “I try,” he hummed “Hey, kid,” Pic hummed to Lukas.

“I know what it is like to not be liked because of who you are, what you are, or what is being done to you,” Pic hummed. “It isn’t all that great,” he hummed with a smirk. “He doesn’t need to worry about me doing the same to him. And since I’ve been here, I don’t need to worry about others doing the same to me.” Pic turned his head to look Aventine in the eye. “That’s one of the reasons I really like you.” His smirk turned into a smile that lit up his eyes.

“Well, then consider this me asking you out,” Pic hummed in reply. “I’ll be in the courtyard at sunset for a nighttime stroll. Until then, I’ll help you take care of this guy.” Pic motioned to Lukas.

Pic’s song abruptly switched back to Aventine’s Waltz, and the stem around Aventine momentarily tightened. ”I just realized,” he said, “That I have never had the chance to take my girlfriend out on a date, have I?”

Pic’s chord pattern shifted. Aventine’s waltz was no longer being sung, though it sounded similar. More minor chords were played in place of major, and major instead of minor. “At least he’s found the right place,” he hummed.

Pic did so, putting his arm around her slowly so he didn’t wake the child. His humming switched to Aventine’s waltz once again, a soothing melody to him, and hopefully the child. “Adopted?” He says with a smile. Pic waved and hummed a confused tune. “Do I know you? You sound familiar,” he replied.
