    Haly held out her hands. At the mention of the flood, the feeling had returned. There was power there, power she didn’t understand and couldn’t control. “I wish I knew. Something… happened. My hands tingled, and…” Essa led her to a random room. “Here you are. Good luck having a quiet stay—all the patients seem to get wrapped up in jnterdimensional schemes daily.” Essa shook her head disapprovingly. “I’ve got a cafeteria being constructed on the second floor. We had some complaints about accessible food... I didn’t clear it with Corvus though, so it’s fairly small. Anyway.”

    Haly replied vehemently. “Well, I don’t want you and Nameless to die if I could have done anything about it! I need to know I tried.” She realized she had stood up. She sat back down, insides roiling.

I do.” A nine-year-old girl in business attire walks up to her and makes a notation on her clipboard “Anothet clinic patient? This is getting ridiculous.” She sighed. “Keep out of delicate dimensions, please. Name?”

    “Yeah. I’m glad you’re okay.” She looked up and managed a grin. “So what now? We have to find hat tower.”

    “I know.” But I didn’t do anything right, either. She stared at her hands. “Are you okay?” He was alive. That didn’t make sense. Then again, he was a patient. So maybe that made more sense.
