  2. She glanced at it, but directed her gaze elsewhere. She is the most important. Protect her. Know her. Don’t forget. The words rang in her head, over and over, the sweeetest sounds she’d ever hear again. Haly was sure of it. “Hey,” she said quietly. “Don’t feel obligated to me because of him, okay?”
  3. She blinked the tears away. “Thanks. It’s good to know he… he really cared.” She swallowed the lump in her throat. “I… thank you.”
  4. Don’t cry again. This’ll be the fourth time in an hour. Don’t cry don’t cry don’t cry… But her tears spilled over anyway. “He said that? Y-you said that? Yeah. Yeah, I am.” Wonderful, Sykel thought sarcastically.
  5. “What is it?” She leaned forward, interested in spite of herself. This could ruin everything, Sykel thought. “Evalyn, we should get going now.” ”Wait.”
  6. Um guys I don’t know why I find this so funny… I think it’s the scrabble tiles XD
  7. “He did. You’re not him. But… yes.” She looked up. “Why do you care?”
  8. She looked down at the ground, unwilling to see his face… the face of a stranger who used to know her. “It’s over. The Finn took it.” She stood up suddenly. “Storm it, why does this keep happening! Every time I try to help, somebody dies. I’m tired of this. Sykel, I’m ready to go home.”
  9. “Well, without your memories, I don’t know. Harmonies linger…” she tilted her head at him. “But not much else. You were… I don’t know.” ”You were TAAron,” Haly broke in. “You were a scholar who researched metal stuff and his homeworld. You were nice and friendly and you didn’t want me to follow you here, and…” she choked and went back to crying.
  10. “Don’t worry about it,” Sykel told him. “You used to be her sweetheart. Now you can be whoever the chasms you want. She’ll get over it.”
  11. Sykel sighed. “Will you guys quit it? Everyone loses someone eventually. You. Stop feeling like you’re not good enough. I can read it in your song. Hurry up and get us out of this tower.” She started and scrambled away. “No,” she choked. “No.” Then she called to the Finn— “Give him back! Now! Right now! Give him back!” She stilled, then whispered, “Please.”
  12. “Chill out,” she sighed. “I’m not going to make her do anything. If she cares about Basilica, she’ll stall him or something.”
  13. “I still failed,” she told him quietly. “Nothing’s changed. Nothing.” Haly walked over to him and collapsed by him. Then she sobbed.
  14. Okay, I can’t resist.

Three words. (I’m serious about all this)

    ‘Roleplay’, ‘emotional’, and ‘trauma’.

@Thaidakar the Ghostblood you can turn off notifications for status replies. Best decision I've ever made on the shard.

Killing characters and resurrecting them quickly becomes cheap as Frusty said. The most you can do this for one character is twice, best would be just once. And if you do do it, try and set it up early on. Don't do it with multiple characters in your books too. It will become predictable.

Yes, Wizard will die in time. So much potential in that happening. Been planning it for a while, since he came back. This time, he will be dead for good.

  15. She sobbed. “TAAron. I’m sorry. I couldn’t stop it. I thought it might not go this way this time. I’m so sorry. I was wrong.” Sykel sighed. “What, so everyone here can suddenly read minds?”
  16. Haly screamed and struggled and cursed everyone present in an unfamiliar language. “TAAron! TAAron…”
  17. Sykel stepped back from her, satisfied. This was an okay ending. Evalyn would get over it—she always did. And then the betrothal might work out, and Basilica would be safe. A good day.
  18. “Stop! No! It wasn’t him!” Haly grabbed TAAron protectively, tears streaming down her face. “Leave him alone. Take mine instead.”
  19. “Tell them it’s off!” She panicked. “Tell them no! TAAron, he’s making you give up your memories. Tell them no!”
  20. “Stop it,” Haly begged. “He’s being controlled! TAAron, wake up! Take all my powers. All of them! Take my connection to Nayo. Take anything!”
  21. Sykel pulled her away. “This isn’t going to help. Stop it.” “No! Please, no!”
  22. “You can’t!” She screamed, jumping up and shoving Malum. “You can’t! I won’t let you! Take mine,” she begged the Finn. “Don’t let him do this to him!”
  23. Haly paled. “Malum? Malum, you can’t do that! You can’t do this.”
  24. Haly stumbled back, still a little weak and more than a little shocked. “TAAron… please don’t do anything stupid.” It was too late for that. Offering your memory definitely counted.
  25. “No! Just mine. Only mine.” Haly was getting frantic. “It probably is for the best,” Sykel muttered. “NO!” Haly screamed. She grabbed TAAron. “No, no, no!”
