Tower of Ghenjei: An ICanon subplot
Bird Furious replied to The Aspiring Archivist's topic in Roleplaying
Their door was pretty much the same as all the others—heavy wood. But it was double the size and had a large, well-cut ruby studded in the middle, about the size of a ping pong ball. It was locked, of course. — “Why, though? Why would you do that?” -

The castle was dark and quiet, but guards still patrolled the halls on a rotation. The moon outside the window seemed unnaturally large, and clouds periodically drifted across the sky, obscuring the stars. — “I don’t think you’re supposed to do that,” she whispered aloud, trying to cover her shock. “You’re not supposed to do that.” -
She’s right over a Bayan seed, Eej communicated gleefully. It’ll start growing in approximately three seconds. Good, cause this is getting old.

Tower of Ghenjei: An ICanon subplot

She nodded, a crease forming between her eyes. “I see.” — Oh. Not knowing what else to say, she curled her knees to her chest, more tears slipping from her eyes. I love you. -

“I have several. All annoying, of course. How about pets?” — Her gut froze. No, you’re not. Malum was lying. Rylla’s protecting you. You’re fine. -

She nodded encouragingly. “Do you have siblings?” The king sat back, rather annoyed that he couldn’t brag some more. — She gasped and bolted upright on the roof. TAAron! You’re alive, I knew it! How’s your mission going? -
Totally not me

The king laughed. “You Evikians crack me up.” His wife placed a warning hand over his and turned her eyes to TAAron. “Tell us about you.” — “I don’t know what I did,” she replied, steadying her breathing. “But I do know that he’s safer now.” Unless he’s dead. She bent forward as her body shook with sobs. -
Ohhhh… so try to distract her. Kealie swung the morningknife again. “What are you doing?” She yelled. She believed her question to be answers when large, fiery sparks began falling inside the witch’s dome. In reality, that was Eej’s doing.

Tower of Ghenjei: An ICanon subplot

“I’m glad to hear this.” He smiled, showing teeth. “Nolikar has much to brag about this year. Agriculturally, we’ve never been better. We’ve seen three nobility marriages within our palace. It’s been wonderful.” — “I don’t care what I see. I can’t trust you. He’s NOT DEAD!” Her emotion reached a crescendo and her defenses dropped. You want to help? She thought fiercely to Rylla. Find him and protect him. Save him. Keep him safe. If he’s dead… do something sufficiently devastating. But he’s not dead, he’s NOT. Rylla—what was built up—rushed out of Haly, swirled for a moment, and then streamed toward Nolikar. The kickback made Haly lose her balance, and she tumbled down the roof before catching hold of the edge. Adrenaline pumping, she pulled herself up and sat on the sharply sloped edge, trying to catch her breath and recover from Rylla’s sudden absence. -

“How is Evika doing?” The king asked, steepling his fingers. — She opened her eyes and tried to focus on the landscape. “I’m not listening to you,” she sobbed. “You’re a liar and all you want is for me to believe you. So I won’t.” But she knew she could do no more than pretend. Rylla knew this, too, and pounded at her chest, waiting. -

She did not notice, but led him down a hallway to a large conferenceish room. The king and queen were both there. (He doesn’t have to notice yet, but she’s wearing a copper chain with a little wooden pendant at the end.) “Good afternoon,” the king said pleasantly. “Come sit down.” — She shook her head hard. “Go away. Just go away.” Rylla pushed up against her ribs. -

Aaya knocked on the door an hour later. “They’re unoccupied.” — “He knew, I’m sure he knew. He had to know.” She jumped to her feet, wiping tears out of her eyes, but they were swiftly replaced. “Leave me alone! Go away! Don’t you have better things to do than this?” -

— “I… but I do! He knows I love him. He… I wanted to say it first, and now…” she clutched the spire closer and she’d silent tears. -

“I-ya,” she muttered, then left. — “Please go away,” she begged, on the verge of tears. “I can’t deal with this right now.” -

“We prefer to be simplistic,” she replied. “Now, if that’s all.” — “No, he promised,” she insisted, but her conviction was fizzling out. “Something would’ve happened.” -

Granted. However. Nightwatcher failed to understand your request, so perhaps she did it wrong. I wish for something fluffy to cuddle. -

Simple, but very iconic and easy to remember. 8.3/10. -
Tower of Ghenjei: An ICanon subplot
Bird Furious replied to The Aspiring Archivist's topic in Roleplaying
“Here you are,” she said in her accented voice, opening a heavy wooden door. The room was all stone. There was a colorful rug on the floor, mostly red, black, and yellow. The bed had no canopy, and there was a window on the wall—no glass, just a window. The closet was dark wood, like the bed, and was next to the window and a plain writing fest. There wasn’t much ornamentation anywhere. ”I hope you will be comfortable,” she muttered, though she didn’t really look it. — “Because he promised.” She sunk to the roof, still holding the spire. The shingles slanted away from her in two different directions, forming a steep peak. -

“You’re funny,” the noble laughed. “I like you better than the other delegates.” Aaya poked her head in. “It’s ready.” ”We’ll have to talk some more later,” he told TAAron. “You are utterly fascinating.” — Haly squinched her eyes shut as if to keep out the image and grabbed a spire to steady herself. “No, it’s not true. Something would have happened. The sky would have fallen, or turned red. Or I would have died too.” -
“I’m really not getting anywhere,” Kealie grunted. “Any tips? That shield is unbreakable.”

“Spirit! Beyond looking down your nose at everyone! I never thought I’d see the day.” He grinned. “Of course not, my good Evander. I’m here to distract you until Aaya comes back to escort you to your room.” — No, it’s a lie, and you’re a liar, and I will kill you. She whirled into a wind chime, up onto the palace roof, then back into herself to gaze over the landscape toward Nolikar. He promised. He’s going to come back. I… I don’t believe you. -

“Why do you Evikians come here so often? To see how real men live?” He laughed, full and loud. “I mean, seriously, it’s like you don’t know how to fight. How are you all even alive?” -
“What’s the aether stone?” Kealie called to Vance. “Why does she want it so badly?” She swung at the dome again.
