    Eej doubled in size, swept Vance up, and increased in speed. The ride was surprisingly smooth. @Channelknight Fadran

    He turned to Haly, beaming. "See? I told you you'd find friends? How many perilous circumstances have you been in?" Haly counted on her fingers. "Ummm... at least nine, I think. I lost count."

    "Eej could carry you too," she offered. "It migh be faster."

    "Oh. So how close are we to this town thing?"

    "He had an allergic reaction," she said. "Then I fought him. It was fun." Cjehu grinned. "I'm sure you thought she was insane."

    Her eyes widened. "Summoned a... golem? Woah. I'll bet he has a lot of clout."

    "It'll help." Cjehu spread some salt on the scrapes, then bandaged wounds that neededit. "How did you meet my sister?"

    Blynx ducked back into th trees and left. "The golem?" Kealie asked, confused. "Did it talk to you?"

    "Really? Oh yeah, the golem."

    Cjehu didn't seem to think this was odd. He had a Haly-ish air of happiness about him. "Take this." He handed TAAron a small cup with clear liquid inside it.

    "That's... that's okay." She crossed the room and knocked on the door of the Head Medic. The person who opened it had dark brown hair, like hers, and a lot of family resemblance. He did seem a few years older, too. "Cjehu!" She yelped. "See, TAAron, I told you he knew better than to die." Cjehu grinned happily at her and moved to TAAron's side. "Of course I'm not dead. Anyway, what's the nature of this injury?"

    She nodded. Eej carefully picked her up, careful not to hurt her any more. "I'm ready. Or rather Eej is ready."

    "Perhaps someday. Perhaps never. I am content as I am."

    "Can't... tell me? You're not having a seizure..." her eyes widened in worry. "Are you?"

    Now that sh was focusing on it, she could feel the energy inside it, energy she needed and was hungry for. I hardly took ten seconds to open the channel, and then as she widened it, energy splashed into her, roiling around. Her exhaustion from using her magic vanished, and a little hunger lifted, with plenty of energy left. She poured it into Eej, whose vines healed and movements became fluid and far more natural. She was still hurt, but Eej was fine now. She smiled at Vance. "Thank you."

    Alarm added itself to her various emotions. "TAAron, what is It?" They arrived at the infirmary, and she set him down in a bed, but didn't leave. "Are you okay?"

    She let it lay in her palm, not feeling up to closing her fingers around it. "What is it?"

    "What..." she was afraid to ask, but she had to. "What did you see?"

    "I have a... channel... mostly closed. Can't close it all the way... wish I could, need the energy, but Eej... Eej needs it too."

    Tears sprang to her eyes. "I promise I'll try not to. Next time, ask Mitis. She knows." Mitis, after leaving Wynn to Lerac, had gone ahead to the infirmity and passed out on a bed.

    "My head hurts," she moaned. "And my back hurts. And my arms and legs and magic too. And I'm hungry. I also can't move and Eej..." she stopped, seeing him next to her. "Eej," she whispered. "Eej is hurt."

    "Here, you carry her." Mitis backed away, relieved they did have two able bodied people, after all. Haly cradled him in her arms, then set off for the infirmary. "What happened?"
