She started, wiped her tears away, and her face hardened again. It took effort. Lots of effort. She stood, holding her lil stoat to her chest, and hurried after him.
It was a miracle Beotha didn't get crushed. "Livetha!" She yelled. "Livetha!!"
You're not going to cry. You're not going to cry!
There. She skidded to her knees and wrapped her arms around the still stoat. She did cry--- from relief when Livetha made a little croaking sound.
Yeah, whatever.
She skidded to a stop. Wasn't she forgetting something?
No. Not that she could---
Livetha!
"Scudded starring monsoons--"
She turned and ran back toward the library as the tremors got worse. She hated the stone above her head, but it couldn't be helped.
Haly considered waking him up. She smoothed his hair off his forehead and waited— she knew he had to rest. She worried about him, though. Probably more than the occasion warranted.
Qodi felt offended that she hadn’t been consulted. She considered biting him, but decided— just barely— that she was too smart to do so.
I changed my mind, Beosta’s still in the library
She smiled. Those lights were pretty, and she was glad he was resting. She stayed right where she was, nestled next to him, and thought about how he smelled nice.
Qodi released the beast.
So that’s how this works.
Metal?
She raised her head and sniffed for metal.
Gail ran over now that the beast was dead. “What is it? And why did we want it again?”
She blushed, happy blooming inside her. She’d never thought about it before, but maybe she was pretty.
Thank you for believing in me, as ridiculous as I can be.
