  1. Bat eventually just shut his eyes and ignored it. She took a deep breath and nodded. She lifted her hand a little, but stopped herself. Had she just been about to take his hand? Mushy brained idiot. She started toward her father, who stood slowly. She had a hard time meeting his eyes, but when she did, they were... soft. She ignored the way her heart jumped with excitement. "Father," she began, "I wanted to ask---" Before she could finish, he stepped forward and hugged her tightly. She gasped, tears welling in her eyes, and hugged him back. But... but it wasn't quite as nice as hugging Shoe. Shoe never felt... almost rigid, like her father did. She felt him move and dismissed it as unimportant--- ---until something blunt and round hit her spine. The others saw Hidel pull out a dagger with a ghostly looking blade that rippled in the light. Before anyone could react, he stabbed Beosta in the middle of the back. Beosta crumpled. A golden tendril of what looked like mist rose in the air above her. Hidel dropped the dagger, catching Beosta's inert body with the utmost care.
  2. *finishes popcorn* Wow What a riveting story
  3. XD They arrived in a desert, under the shadow of a large stone plateau. A man sat not far from them, cooking something over a fire, Shoe would recognize him from Beosta’s memories, and though it was clear he’d grown older, the sharpness in his eyes had not diminished. If anything, it was keener than ever. Bat yelled and swatted at the squirrel. Beosta ignored him.
  4. Oooooh, no! *eagerly awaits story * Ooooh! Tell, Mommy!!
  5. I love how he hates Bat so bad. It’s my favorite I guess… “We’ll come right back,” she promised to them. “Wait,” Gaioh said. “I… kind of want to go. Just… ask about things.” Right. A visit from her father, to him, meant a visit from his world. She bit her lip. “Yes. Of course.” ”So I’m coming too,” Bat reminded everyone. Gaioh sighed. “Right! Is that settled, then?”
  6. “I was patterned after him, after all. I thought it a fitting place to start.” She shrugged. “So what can I do for you?” “I need to talk to my father.” “Oh, of course! Are you coming?” She asked Shoe.
  7. She nodded. She decided to try Lady Bug, just to see if Gaioh had been right about summoning her. “Lady Bug, Lady Bug, Lady Bug.” Saying that made her feel kind of stupid. But Lady Bug did appear, dressed in leggings and a red performance coat and top hat. She threw confetti everywhere. “Good day! On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate that summoning?”
  8. He panicked and knocked a table over to give him some cover from the fire. Mirth had said he could take some hits, but he didn’t feel inclined to test the limits.
  9. Please. A wave of relief accompanied the words. Should we go now? She asked, mostly to stall.
  10. “Heh. This might not be so bad after all.” He picked them all off.
  11. She lingered for a minute, then pulled back. I guess I should go ask, she thought unhappily. Gaioh was pretending he wasn’t curious as to the conversation and Bat was over by a tree being confused.
  12. She smiled and hugged him. Thank you. She really liked hugging him.
  13. That’s true. She felt somewhat better. Can I hug you?
  14. Well… what if he doesn’t mean it? What if he doesn’t really care about me? The thought felt too awful to dwell on.
  15. My little sister is the sweetest thing

the base near our house lets airplanes do sonic booms sometimes apparently and one of those just happened

I was bored of editing so I went to make nachos for myself and my 7-yo sister had the landline phone and was saying “mom, mom, mom” and when my mom finally picked up the phone she was like “there’s a lightning storm; come home fast! Are you in the car yet??”

And she’s just the sweetest lil thing ❤️

Aye we do and her little sister is especially sweet 🥰

  16. He growled. Why is this so hard? He pushed more emotions at them— hopelessness, mainly. Lots of hopelessness. Just give up and lay down and be a useless rock. He shifted his aim to their chests as the voice directed.
  17. “Probably,” she said. “Or… I don’t know. It depends on why he wants me back.” Maybe I should ask him. Demand he be more clear.
  18. He grinned, then pushed harder, feeding them images of dark cities and the feeling of being hunted by a beast who never slept. Just give up now. It's not worth fighting any longer. Then he shot them with his flintlock.
  19. He wasn't? Thanks. She smiled. Oh... but... I should probably talk to my dad. She frowned. What do I tell him? Shoe, I... I really don't wanna go back. But I probably should. But I don't want to.
  20. She blushed. "Oh. I guess so. It's been a pretty nice morning." And I don't think he's too mad at me, so that's nice.
  21. She stripped some vines away from it. "Dang, it's worn down. Ooooh, no mortar! The stones fit together so perfectly. That's so cool."
