    She tinkled against the cage. “Yeah… kinda defeats the purpose of coming to the clinic for friends if I isolate myself, huh?” He grinned. “That’s part of why I came out to get you guys. But mostly it was the commotion.”

    “Oh. Thanks.” He smiled, feeling weirdly less sick. He hadn’t realized he felt sick. “I’m not mad, either. Not at all.” “We were wondering if you could help Cricket with that utility fog stuff. He’s poisoned.”

    The birds tinkled reassuringly. “Oh, just a month or two. I have a couple favorite rooms.”

    Haly the Group of Glass Birds sighed. He was so stubborn. But… it was nice to see him. “Haly showed me a little while back. I’ve been down here mostly ever since.”

    “I…” he faltered. “No. I don’t know. It was right after the whole nuclear blast thing, though…” he frowned. “Rax. I probably have radiation poisoning. I still don’t know why I lived through that.”

    He shrugged. “I’m not much of an artist. Just add swirls and lace patterns and stuff like that.”

    “Uh… there’s one that comes out onto a big tree trunk. There are giant branches and tunnels inside them, and that one’s cool. There are some with monsters. Most of them are just nice, though.”
