    Rose narrowed her eyes at it and showed it her dagger.

    He smiled. “That’s Thaddeus,” he mouthed back. “He’s my buddy for now.”

    “I’ve heard about the sun. It wasn’t confusing.” Tam apparently Narrated all her bad memories to the back of her head, and Bat was weirded out, so Rose sent him to get her chicken salad even though she hates chicken and so Bat’s in a floating warehouse in the middle of nowhere trying to process and Rose and Tam are having a conversation—or were I guess— and Tam has a bunny named Dessie for Destroyer now.     “Dessie! I will be Dessie of Destroy and Desolation and DESSERT.” She curled up comfortably. “And you are my Pet Tam.”

    “Aw… where are the Not Friend Humans? I am hungry for Flesh!”

    …or that. That was Sufficient. She scooted onto her Pet’s lap. “Good Pet,” she said in Bunny, which sounded very soft and squeaky. Rose watched, bemused.

    The bunny nudged her hand. If she was going to have a Pet, it better be an Interesting Pet who did Many Great and Preferably Bloody things.

    “Clearly.” She leaned back, bored. She resolved to make Bat give her some paper when he got back.

    She tilted her head. “You should go to therapy. Either that, or become a writer.”

    “But it’s like… you just… took your fundamental ness and changed it.” She shook her head. “And you’re not even planning on changing it? Trying to sort through your problems?”

    “No, it’s creepy that you can just… change yourself like that. If you don’t have your own mind, and your own body, you don’t have anything.” She ran her hands down her bare arms and tattoos.

    Barry hurried back to his crevice and hunkered down with his lil crab. He pulled the crab out and gently prodded it into a tiny crack. After a moment of deliberation, he pushed Apple after him.

    “More permanent?” ”He’s prolly fine. He’s weirdly immune to the universe or something.” Rose sighed. “Are we really doing this again?” She asked nobody in particular. “Hello, rabbit.”
