    Rose didn’t know how long she’d been curled up alone in the darkness. Why did she stay? Why sit in a lonely wine cellar when she could be in her quarters, sleeping between crisp sheets or sitting before a warm fire, reading a book? Maybe she just wanted to remember. Remember what this place really was. Remember what the price of obedience was. Remember that any imperfection meant loneliness, abandonment. She was punishing herself, she realized. Maybe one day she wouldn’t have to. She jumped when she saw the portal.

    His eyes widened. “Shhhhhh!” ”I’ll take your measurements anyway.” “We have to talk first. Come on.” Bat grabbed his friends and dragged them to his room, shooing away Fly and Snow. He closed the door. “Okay, Cricket. Shoot.” @TwinStorm that one’s Fly “It’s scary,” she whimpered.

    Eepy sniffled, gave him a hug, and flew. She stayed very close to the ground, but otherwise did as he said. A little girl around seven or eight hugged his knees. “Don’t be sad.”

    He nodded and led them up two levels and through cramped streets to his house. “Ready? It can be… a lot. We’ll go to my room. It’s quiet there.”

    He nodded. Zeta growled. “Those snakes,” she hissed. “You idiots, up at arms!” She yelled. “ARCHERS!” Another rock hit the wall, and she stumbled. Bobby grinned. Maybe he should try and Rizz the wall into letting him through.
