    it's okay. I figured it out in the end. The skeins gave him an odd look. "You just volunteered to have us bind you like we would the Witherlord, we are aware of how we would have to do it, we must just practice because we tend to work as one when together. We just have to actually do it, that is the only way to practice this." Yea, they can absorb the energy from just about everywhere to fuel their manifestation. however, between worldsets the difference is enough that it shatters the already fragile form that is necessary for planar grouping travel, like how water always seems cold when you jump in a pool but eventually feels warm. going to another planar grouping is like jumping into the pool.

    you're contradicting yourself, do you mean they all did it together, and should instead specialize? The Skeins sat in shared thought for a moment. "That might work, but there are parts of it that we can only do together, later. The beginnings of the binding only define the creature/being/area that we are binding, and some other esoteric items necessary to the binding. It may cut the time down to a half minute, but we can change our personal passage through time in small ways, so it should be almost nothing to everyone else. We would have to practice, and the time-shifting part will need a dedicated external energy source." It's part of how I organize universes and worlds in books and it is somewhat fluid, starting with universe (a core possibility), plane(related core possibilities), Planar groups("close" planes), and world sets(separated planar groups, one for each book series.). the way the skeins use it, it means planar groups, which are far enough apart to be distinctly different and have odd reactions with creatures from them.

    anything from investiture to starlight, the energy is absorbed and stored, it takes a great deal of energy to manifest a physical from for them, and they see it as merely a tool, regardless of where it comes from. they are not truly alive, like they were originally. ps, unless specified otherwise, the skeins talk as one. "We represent six aspects of a living mortal who is truly in balance. Where we are from, which is now gone, this is the balance, and from the six elements comes the essence of energy and life, which we are not." "In essence, you are correct about the last two, but we are fundamentally different from the luxsprites, though we may very well share connection to them. upon entering new worldsets, we often shatter, due to incompatibilities. Now, what is your plan to deal with the Witherlord's power?"

    the Skein/consultnt coalition, the Skeins want to reunite, and have to break the Witherlord's power to do so. well, the consultants want the Witherlord gone too. The withergeists will still remain, probably. The need to absorb native energy is for the skeins, to manifest in forms that can have meaningful interactions with a given universe. Each time they enter a new universe, they take on a roll in the native area, by nature of the balance they represent. Yes, Drozor can be the rightful guardian of the luxsprite energy, but he himself is not a luxsprite, unless that is something like the Elantrians, where people can become one when they were not. The skeins looked in fascination, and each reached into their chest and moved the energy, revealing a jagged triangular shard of some strange material, native to their elsewhere. each shard was a refinement of elemental energy. "And what is the last one? Or is it two as one?" the Spectra prompted.

    okay, yea. they absorb native energy, that's how they can manifest in any universe. if the Boundless Beginning is corrupted, by its nature it ceases to be a dream seed, the energy - which would remain the same, it is like a knife, just a tool - would pass on and form another vessel. only the vessel itself can be corrupted, and it would have only a short window in which it could do anything with its power. "If you are trying to say we are luxsprites, that may be true in this universe, but not in any other we have ever been to. Continue on."

    well, no, the powers are a result of the shattering, but his people have a history of elemental powers. The cutting off of the corrupted portion would functionally unmake the Beginning, at most it would be a normal mortal with no powers, it would probably cease to exist in any form. "Okaaaaay."

    they were a man called Drozor Altair. He is basically human, with some differences. Who they were before they shattered is not yet important, but they were from an elsewhere even further than the home of the Quarkbeasts.

    Balance began to tap absently on the table in a complex pattern, faint blue lines forming and dissipating as he did so. "I was told to seek a Per or an Aln? Not sure who they are, rumors just mentioned their names." He took a wary bite of the stew, then, discovering it was delicious, devoured it neatly.     they've existed as vague consciousness's in the elements, essentially in stasis, and had no interaction whatsoever in a meaningful way until they emerged and coalesced. plane shifting causes time anomalies for them when they do it. "Do you have any suggestions? If he did manage to corrupt it, the corruption would be nullified, as it would have to be finite, and Boundless Beginnings are infinite, constantly drawing on all the others."

    they shattered upon entering the universe set, due to the existence of the Witherlord. "We only gave you a possibility. one of them would be able to contain a great deal of the power of the Witherlord, given proper access to the Universe.

    "That is fine. Your system is correct in the basics, though it's hard to explain in this tongue. Nameless Ends destroy universes, leaving empty husks. Each Nameless End destroys in a uniquely different way, but the end result is the loss of possibility in that universe. Boundless Beginnings are their exact opposite, every time a Nameless end destroys a universe a Boundless beginning creates a new one. How they do this is somewhat esoteric, but as near as we can tell they are each the essence of infinite possibility. They also each create in a uniquely different way, and as there are an infinite different number of ways to end something, so there are an infinite different number of ways to begin something. The Witherlord inadvertently created a Nameless End in the Darkbeast, but this was not purposeful, as they cannot be controlled and the Witherlord knows nothing of them, except to fear them. Nameless Ends could destroy him, but all of the universes would fall as well. Given that Boundless Beginnings are equally powerful and dangerous, we could get one to help bind him." if anything is unclear, please ask for clarification.

    "We are six elemental spirits formed from a shattered mortal, but we see your point." They turned towards the holographic display. It was blank, but the Spectra pointed at it and a shapeless void was shown, which was rather impressive. A soft voice gave what little information the database had on them: "A Boundless Beginning is the exact opposite of a Nameless End. For every End, there is also a Beginning, and so there are and infinite number of both. However, they are rarely known to interact with functioning universes."

    got it. "Strange, We know with a certainty that before we came here we had no interaction with this universe. Anyway, we could call upon a Boundless Beginning to help contain the Witherlord's power.

    "Yes, we have them when we are together, by the nature of energy. That is part of how the binding works, it binds the body in space, and the mind in time. we are also trying to come up with ways to inverse it, because we believe it would be good to know what it does, binding the body in time and the mind in space. None of us have more capability towards chronokinesis, except possibly the Spectra and the Derka. what one is good at, the direct opposite is also good at. Also, did you not hear anything else we said?"

    The skeins can only sense the connection between it and Thaidakar, and like giving more descriptive titles than "Shadow." After all, one of them could be called the same thing.

    "We were stating one of the few things we know is certain, the Quarkbeast is preventing the rise of more Nameless ends, and so will not come. We are aware of its abilities, and its limits. But that is not relevant. We are also aware of the Chronokinetic abilities of the Witherlord, but those lay primarily in acceleration of processes. If it attempted to use those on the binding, it would actually make us complete it faster. We do not have true Chronokinetic abilities in this form, we have power over elemental energies." The skeins stopped talking, thinking of ways to limit the Witherlord. The silence stretched, even Thaidakar's Shadow remaining quiet. "We could call on a Boundless Beginning." the skeins finally offered.

    "Even the Witherlord is bound to time," the skeins replied, unfazed by the looming of the Knight. "And much of his power is tied up in connections to the withergeists, those will be his primary attack on others. Even the strongest Chronokinetic you have cannot hold him, but there is one who is holding up much of the Witherlord's power in this world. In this, there are no guarantees, except that the Quarkbeast will stay far away."
