  1. That is but one of potential opportunities being explored, I assure you. However! Is it not also possible that there exists small portions of the mortal soul which would correspond to emotional capability (zinc Hemalurgy is noted to steal emotional fortitude), and those could be drawn upon as fuel, irrespective of any extra added Investiture?
  2. I suppose they are justified by either exacting control over or subjecting oneself to the control of another. Environmental would entail ‘taking’ and suppressing a power from outside the self, or having that power given directly to you by a user of Direct-Adhesion, and thereby be subject to their will, or risk the revoking of your Surge. Nahel Acquisition would be similar. Either subjecting oneself to the service of a godspren, or by pressing a lesser spren into your own spiritual service. In regards to to your comment on the ‘Odium stuff’ section of the document, could you elaborate upon “The innate Investiture of your people will have to be quite high.”?
  3. “No need to ask,” Reginn advises. “Just tell us what you see. Swift and concise.”
  4. Could, perhaps, a more comprehensive write up of the black hole’s capabilities and limitations be presented, such as to prevent future complications and misunderstandings? (graah stupid black holes)
  5. “Most excellent.” Reginn motions towards Hilda and the sewer entrance. “After you.”
  6. “Defensive, then,” Reginn declares. “There shall be time enough for a planned offensive later, I’d hope.” Reginn turns to the others. “Are we decided? All prepared?”
  7. “If you believe you could potentially handle any physical threats for an extended period, then your going first could be suitable. Leading, or guarding the rear.” Reginn shrugs, “Really, my estimations of your abilities are just that. You know yourselves better than I.” He points his staff towards Hilda. “Do you believe it is you who is best suited to act as the tip of the spear? Or would perhaps the priest do better?”
  8. A question, do you think this polarization phenomenon is so prevalent as to invariably provoke Shards to direct conflict with another? Tanavast and Koravellium had every intention of working with the other wholeheartedly. Assuming no outside intervention, would their Shards always refuse the other? Shardic extremism is the biggest hurdle, right? Who is to say they do not work to align their intents towards to better match the other. Honor becomes something like fulfilling the obligations of a god, which could include working for the progressive betterment of your people, or something.
  9. Yet, there is also an element of their Vessels own personal oppositions which accelerated this. An Honor and Autonomy aware of the mismatch could minimize polarization through intentional cooperation. (A funny thought, all Honor’s Vessel has to do to ensure the Shard cooperates is say ‘I swear I will _____’ and he’s golden. Just be proactive about it. Make a big, cohesive contract.)
  10. I did not find such a WOB, from a brief search, but I did find these: So, Devotion is similar to Servitude, and Dominion could be considered an opposite to Devotion. My thoughts have some merit, huzzah!
  11. One thing I routinely ask myself, “what is love?” Like, seon’s are dedicated to service, and Devotion is described as compassionate. Is Devotion the desire to serve and uplift others? ‘Love’ them, if you will? Feel for them? Odium does seem to have an ability to feel for others, so it’s not as if it’s completely separated from compassion. I had thought that, perhaps, Dominion and Devotion could be described as opposites. Make others serve the self versus the self serving others. Very complicated. But, if feeling for others is aligned to Devotion, then what does Mercy entail? What does Mercy desire to be merciful about? Who knows.
  12. For a more wholesome bent, maybe one could go for Prosperity. The desire for what you control to be beautiful. The reality of that wouldn’t be as good as the name implies, superficial style. Supremacy is good, too. Prowess is also a pretty accurate interpretation for Valor and Virtuosity, I’d say. Supremacy could also work for Ambition’s case, or something along the lines of Superlative, whatever word would describe the desire and appreciation of skill above all. Mercy is a tougher one. What even is Mercy? God’s own desire to… alleviate pain? Iunno.
  13. I see I see. What would you say ‘story’ means to Cultivation? I cannot seem to parse a definition that might fit a Shardic Intent. Like, remembrance of the past? The experiencing of historical events? Iunno. I don’t necessarily agree with the notion that any Shard is impossible to redefine. Ruin was, to an extent, why would Odium be any different? Odium’s alignment towards pretty much all emotion could theoretically fit well into Passion. I’d propose, then, that it’s not that Odium cannot be redefined, but that Rayse couldn’t redefine Odium. All his spewing about passion is worthless, because his a slimy schemer who doesn’t actually care about passion at all, other than the fact that it makes him seem more palatable. Theoretically, if a person who genuinely believed Odium could become Passion became its Vessel, they would see much better results.
  14. Changes to a Shard’s Intent would take a lot of time to solidify, I think, and not really possible if Eloh has given himself over to it immediately, right? In the immediate, stories (how should that be said scientifically? The progression of the human mind?) wouldn’t be as firmly attached to Cultivation as it could be in future.
  15. The growth-aligned nature of Cultivation, combined with Invention’s useful creation, could lead to things like Mechanization, Automation, or Industrialization.
  16. Reginn maintains a certain level of decorum. “Perhaps we should discuss a marching order,” he suggests, pointing his staff towards Hilda and Galalth. “She should perhaps make up the front, for she might best represent physical ability amongst our number, which otherwise lacks in that department.” Turning to the beastfolk, “You, or perhaps our plague-priest, should follow second. Whoever might be better at spotting and dealing with lone samples of the enemy swiftly. I would be third, with the remainder as our last.”
  17. Unfortunately, as of this moment, Odium’s power is either stuck to Grace or exists in trace amounts within people, so iunno if a Seeds will have anything significant to grab onto.
  18. There are also many details to consider for each, Virtuosity’s Investiture seeds have, from the start, been imbued with a purpose and I suppose a sort of rudimentary mind. This may/probably will not be the same case as this hypothetical Odium remnant.
  19. I think if it’s a people have been Invested, then there’d little effect from perception and gaining sentience, attached as it is to physical beings. But if a chunk were left behind on a barren planet for the specific purpose of utilizing that planet to make an Invested Art, then that’d be a more open question. I’m leaning not, however.
  20. i’m 90% sure Chips means only in a minor way, like traces of preservation/ruin in mundane scadrian, if they’ve chosen to follow the style of Invested Art I originally had in mind.
  21. I got pretty much everything except for properties of Dominion’s godmetal, which is an admittedly minor thing. Fiiiine, I suppose I shall deign to do so.
