  1. I actually knew that and just blanked fir a minute when responding. Lol
  2. The El knowing Hemalurgy thing has been my favorite theory since the moment I heard him talking about the metal. Brandon has mentioned there are people off Scadrial that have used Hemalurgy. The Ghostbloods are an obvious guess. El using metal is a possible sign. It would be pretty awesome if he just had limited knowledge but knew enough to get a power up every time he could catch a radiant and put a spike through them. As much as I want it though the carapace seems to be molded into armor more than spikes since he's replacing carapace. There has to be something interesting going on with the metal though.
  3. I'm pretty sure the Returned look however they look from their own perspective of how they should look. Vacheron has obviously learned to manipulate this because he can appear lookimg like a beggar or a Returned. So if Lift was functioning the same as a Returned she wouldn't age because she doesn't think she should age. Haven't read Warbreaker in a year or so but I'm pretty sure that's how that works.
  4. So I will mention 3 characters. Adolin I always liked. But he grew on me more and more until now he is one of my absolute favorites. Vinli I never liked. I'm still not sure I like her that much. Before I used to just want to skip her chapters and now they are fine. In the reverse.... I loved Syl at 1st but I find her annoying me more and more as the story progresses where I fall further in love with the little nitwit cryptics every time I listen to the book again.
  5. All I'm gonna say.... ethical debate aside cough cough Breeze cough cough..... is that soothing and rioting in day to day life seems very very useful. So definitely choosing Mistborn. Steel Iron Tin and Pewter and all that are just bonuses.
  6. When Shallan was 9 she secretly started training axe hounds for death fights. Her brother loved it but when they got caught she let him take the blame which is how Shallan got Testament and why Balat hurts animals.
  7. Wow. And the Seon connection to the deadeye. Possibly it's all part of the spiritual dis"connection" associated with the recreance. After all, Dalinar tells Kaladin it's something supernatural with Ishar.
  8. Guess I just brought Lightweavers into the 1st place tie. I would have chose bondsmith because of seeing Ishar fight. But Bondsmith spren are pretty annoying. And all the little nitwit Crytptics are awesome! Honorable mention to Truthwatchers. Lol
  9. I see what you're saying now. That is very cool.
  10. Shallan stole a toy from each brother and lied about it. Each oath was when she admitted it to her spren.
  11. The Ring are just more Cultivation spren. A group of spren sending a spren helped them be more intelligent? Pattern was presumably chosen by a group of crytpics and he still started as a nitwit.
  12. But for example, if Melishi bond with Sibling is broken then he isn't a bondsmith anymore is he? Are you saying that Mishram can grant radiant powers? Wouldn't that make it a bondsmith powered by voidlight? Edit- was responding to end of 1st page. Didn't realize I'd transitioned back somehow. Lol
  13. Had not even been thinking about non fantasy tbh. Try Pillars of the Earth. #1 in the Kingsbridge series. I'm not the least bot religious but this series is about building a church back in like the 1300s or something. Very dramatic tragedy story. Very different. Much worth the read.
  14. Regular non invested type breeds also allowed.....
  15. My baby mistborn Vin. And my ferocious Syl
  16. Ok I'll start off. So Shallan's mother was having an affair with Nale while Shallans father was off on political meetings. Shallan found out but was hiding it from her brothers and father. This formed the bond with Testament. When it came to light she was surgebinding, her mother tried to kill her because Nale had influenced her during their relationship. When Shallans mother tried to kill her to stop the return of desolation Shallan swore her 2nd ideal and killed her mother. What can yall come up with? Hehe
  17. Ok so 1 of the craziest things to me is that Shallan is basically in the process of reforging her oathes she already made, now to her 2nd spren. From the best I can tell this whole Testament ordeal was around when she was like 13 or 14? I'm not sure. BUT something crazy had to happen for her to get to what I assume would at least be her 3rd ideal. Break her bond. Bond Pattern and then progress to what I now believe is her 3rd ideal again? I think she will reach her 4th ideal when she no longer needs radiant. Point being, it seems she started way ahead of other radiants. So the question, what truths did young Shallan have to attract and progress with a Cryptic so much earlier than everyone else? Has to be something INSANE. Ok the goal of this post! Tell me your ABSURD, theories why Shallan got Testament? For bonus points- what (crazy?) Oath(s) got her, her 1st spren blade?
  18. Wheel of Time isn't nearly as action packed and fast paced as Cosmere but it's incredible. 1st law series is very very good especially if you want a nice contrast to the more lighthearted fantasy. Every character is a self absorbed asshole. Gentleman Bastards is pretty great. I love Locke. The Oceans 11 of Fantasy. Lol. Dresden files is like 17 short urban fantasy detective books that have a lot of merit. The Demon Cycle books are pretty badass. The 1st book is The Warded Man. Very interesting book with a drawing based magic system. (Weird understatement) very character oriented. Another series with a cool hard magic system is the Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks. He always does the Night Angel trilogy which the audio version has a Narrator that every word he says kind of makes him sound like a total smart-ass yet somehow it works great. Kingkiller is a good 1st read but not great for many reread. The main character gets his ego rubbed a lot so can get tedious hearing how awesome he is too many times over. And of course the Game of Thrones books are on point and I'm getting a good feeling book 6 may happen before old George bites it.
  19. Since Wyndle is a Cultivation spren his connection to Cultivation could help him keep sapience since she is still alive. Connection could mean a great deal. Afterthought.... Odium was still alive and Ulim seemed to function great.... given he did seem to express an alternate type of transition since he was on the other planet. 2nd afterthought... Isn't Maya a Cultivation spren? Like the type of Spren Adolin is helping cure of deadeye is the same type showing the most ability to maintain their memory when entering the physical realm. Possible it's not a coincidence???
  20. Ok so the 2 things I'm trying to wrap my head around. I meant to mention 1 earlier but don't think I did? I still don't understand why Odium's basically unmade general would be connected enough to radiant spren to deadeye them. It just really bugs me. About the Sibling, does she explicitly say she lost her light when BAM becomes imprisoned? Or does she just say BAM is the cause? I am not 100% sure how that connection is there either. I know it is mostly because of lack of info on the Unmade. It also crosses my mind that BAM is still captured but Sibling has her light back. I believe it was hearing Honors tone again helped with her light. That implies the true tones were the cause. So in that line of thinking kind of rephrases the question. Is BAM strong enough and invested enough to effect honors tone when captured? Or would it be the death of a vessel? Sorry if my thoughts come out feeling rambling. Never feel I do good at explaining what I'm trying to say.
  21. @LewsTherinTelescope OK. So your point on the Recreance makes sense but I am still having trouble with the timeline. The copper mind I only see it saying BAM imprisonment is "around the recreance". Honors death is after because of the visions, yes. But how far after? How long after the recreance did the spren become deadeyes? Was it immediate? As far as I can tell. BAM was captured. Then the sibling ended their bond with their bondsmith then the recreance. Then at some point after recreance honor dies. So a couple thoughts I had I'd like to add to the conversation. In response to the Sibling saying her wounding was because of BAM. I mean she's obviously a good source. But a book ago every spren and human on Roshar knew the radiants broke their oaths. So is it not possible the sibling could be wrong? Also around this time I have read things about Honor had already been dying around that time. Wounded by Odium, possibly breaking his own oaths? So tell me if this is even a possibility. I may be completely missing something again but here goes. Does it fit into timeline that #1 BAM is imprisoned. #2 Sibling breaks their bond. #3 the receance #4 since Honor is so connected to the radiants all the oaths broken at once could have been the nail on honors coffin. #5 Honor is now shattered. Bonded spren are now deadeye. Everyone relates it to BAM BECAUSE they saw what her imprisonment did to the singers. The only reason I am stuck on this idea is because of connection. BAM was connected to the singers. So her imprisonment greatly affected them. And minorly affected other things. She is also connected to Odium and she uses voidlight to fuel everything. The radiant spren are of Cultivation and Honor. Windrunners are MOST connected to Honor and there are a lot more wind runners than any other order. So you take a greatly wounded Honor, a vast amount of oaths broken simultaneously..... boom. Cultivation is probably affected in someway but wasn't already wounded and not nearly as connected as Honor. I could be misunderstanding timeline. I dunno.
  22. Ok. I'm new but I've tried to at least be mostly thorough while digging through the forums for my ideas and/or supporting evidence. My new job allows for many hours of audio (by far my preferred method) and allowed me to start binging Shardcast, something I had little time for previously. An episode I watched recently talked about deadeyes and The Recreance. A WoB was mentioned that talked about the deadeyes being similar to something that happened previously in the cosmere. The argument on shardcast was the situation one like Seones (Maybe spelled right?) Or shades on Threnody. The majority of the crew heavily sided with similar to Seones, and most posts I have read speak very little of shades. This is my thoughts. There are WAY too many clues about BAM and the recreance. WAY too many. The entire narrative is directing you straight at it. Well, all the Mistborn epigraph was trying to point you straight at Vin. Well, now there's Harmony. Ya know? So why would Brandon put out dozens and dozens of blatant clues that BAM was the cause of deadeyes? Simple misdirection. Here is my actual theory. The problems on Threnody started because Ambition was basically killed by Odium. Now we have Shades. My best research has been able to provide, Honor was dying in the time leading up to The Recreance. His death probably coincided very close with The Recreance. Seones issues were caused by Elantris magic system being directly connected to the landscape. That is NOT the case on Roshar. The landscape changed. The Seones changed. On Roshar, the singers were connected to BAM, not the Radiant Spren creating Nahel Bonds. The radiant spren as far as I can tell are connected to Honor (some more than others). So what if the parshmen lost their form because of the imprisonment of BAM. But the deadeye were because of the death of Honor. I love new information so feel free to prove me wrong. Totally want the real details. But I feel the shades on Threnody are what was referred to in the WoB. Not the Seones. I am reasonably confident this theory has merit. BUT The secondary part of my theory maybe is a lot more fluid and all that. So, if the deadeyes are mainly affected by the death of Honor, and a VERY good chance also that it was connected to Honor breaking his own oathes. Spren are connected to Honor. Honor breaks his oathes and dies. Radiant oathes being broken now cause deadeyes. This happened near simultaneously with The Recreance. A huge theory I see getting repeated is Kaladin taking up the Shard of Honor. (Sometimes Dalinar and others) BUT I think Adolin has shown more Honor than anyone. He is the 1 throughout many books, he has shown kindness to slaves and servants, common soldiers. He is always championing whatever "righteous cause" comes along. Who is closer to Honor? I had a wild theory before about Adolin being Honors champion. But what if, instead of Dalinar or Kaladin, Adolin became Honor! A bit of supporting evidence or implications or whatever. Similar to the beginning part of my theory. Sanderson loves misdirection. I see a lot of mention of Adolin as a "side character". Sazed was a side character for all the same reasons Adolin. As far as I am concerned Adolin and Sazed are on the same level of side/main character. Now we have Harmony. Whether or not it is Adolin, I think when the shard of Honor had coalesced in whichever way and finds another vessel, the new vessel will renew the oathes and free the deadeyes. I believe near simultaneously, right before, right after, which have you. In a very similar timeline BAM will be released and fix any issues still with the singers. I'd love to hear any feedback pro or con. I really hope my idea isn't completely stale and repetitive as I'm late to the forum party. Lol.
  23. Some interesting 1s. Lots of cool little twists to add in
