  1. Crap, the future is scary.

Building a plan for the future is absolutely terrifying...

Realizing that I'm not going to be able to live off my writing, actually accepting that knowledge, is terrifying. I now truly know that things are gonna suck if I don't have at least one back up. Especially one where I can still write on the side. For the first time, I genuinely thinking "What if I become a seminary teacher at some point?" or "Maybe I can become a podcaster" (I know, outlandish) and even "What if I become a social media manager for Wendy's and get to roast people?

    "and insult them."

That being said, there's some new online programs that allow artists to put an extra layer of invisible pixels over digital copies of art. The invisible pixels make it so the AI machine can't recognize it, so it doesn't get stolen. I believe the largest one so far is called Glaze. Some other programs add invisible pixels that actually screw up the outcome of AI if your image is taken, but I'm not sure what that one is called. Hopefully these programs can become commonplace enough that those who want to protected can be.

Oh my chasms I need to try this out then.

I can understand having fun with it, since real commissions can be pricey (though they are that way for a reason).

I agree. it might seem kinda backwards that I occasionally use it seeing as I’m an artist myself, but I mostly use it to visualize what I’m trying to draw if I’m having trouble. I don’t copy it by any means, just use them as references I guess when I can’t find a good one that already exists. I never post AI made things and say “I drew this”, though. It’s like taking pieces of cake from other bakers and making those pieces into a cake and then saying “look at this cake I baked!”

Yeah, if there's a way to use it respectfully, that'd be it. Specific references can be hard to find.

It's real fun to ask chatgpt about plagiarism and get it to admit committing criminal acts.

Copilot actually cites sources, which is a step in the right direction so woo windows.
