Long Game 95: The Fire of Ado's Light
The Unknown Character replied to Ashbringer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
If Drake dies on a turn before I Intent Convert, the village auto wins. Drake cannot die until I Intent Convert, and I cannot Intent Convert until it's time to outnumber. Here's my current plan: D9 I go to Silverlight We hit JNV’s VShield N9 We hang out, nobody does anything game relevant, except maybe Drake contains Odium D10 I start containing Autonomy, JNV starts containing Ruin N10 I VAction to contain Autonomy and Intent Convert, JNV VActions to contain Ruin and kill Drake. Mutual victory.- 1443 replies

I think what might need to happen is for you to wait to replace Ruin until the final night, then VAction to put Ruin away while you kill Odium.- 1443 replies

JNV would be better, so that I can be hit tomorrow after JNV has contained Ruin. That way we don't have to rely on a tie.- 1443 replies

Long Game 95: The Fire of Ado's Light
The Unknown Character replied to Ashbringer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I think at this point, without help from JNV, it is impossible for us to win together. If Drake dies, the village wins. If I Intent Convert, whether or not Drake dies, Autonomous wins. It is currently 5 v 5 If Drake dies, it becomes 5 v 4 If I don't Intent Convert, the village completes it's primary wincon. If I do Intent Convert, it becomes 4 v 5 Autonomous completes it's primary wincon. So the only move now is to hit me, JNV, or cause a tie. Which will place it at 5 v 5, when JNV can return Ruin Then we need to hit a VShield or tie again while I start putting Autonomy away, then it will be 5 v 5 And then I use my VAction to convert and put Autonomy away at the same time. If anyone dies today, you lose. Simple as that.- 1443 replies

Well Rusts. Why did you guys just decide to go after us? We were perfectly willing to go for a joint victory. I killed my own step-child for this.- 1443 replies

Copied from the bookclub PM: So, I loved Painter. Definitely a top three Brandon character next to Kaladin and Dalinar. Parts of his character really resonated with me. Not exactly the lone wolf style, but the concealed loneliness and certain aspects of his character that you'll discover about midway through the book. Yumi, less so. Brandon's female characters have a very distinct connection with Robert Jordan's, which means I will always find them pretty irritating. I know everyone always talks about how accurate they ar. I agree, I just don’t like the women they're accurate to either. Design was a delight throughout. Tearing through social conventions like a hot knife through butter. Hoid was pretty fun even outside of his narration. Let's do ratings: Emotional Impact: 9 Characters: 8.55 Plot: 5.8 Dialogue/Prose: 7.45 Worldbuilding/Magic System: 8.25 Overall: 7.81 A very respectable score, if it weren't for Yumi the score would be a bit higher. This wasn't a plot heavy book either, and the only parts that were plot heavy were pretty confusing, so it got a pretty low score on that front. All of the side characters were delightful. I think I will have to agree with Brandon that this is my favorite SP so far, but I think there's a good chance it will be usurped by SP4. Brandon said his goal when writing these was to get Hoid’s tone down for Dragonsteel, and this tone feels pretty good. I would be pretty happy with this for Dragonsteel.

I'm still village, technically. I assume I'm using my Shardic to Intent Convert so that the Village doesn't auto win? Then I'll use my VAction to go to Silverlight. S- 1443 replies

Long Game 95: The Fire of Ado's Light
The Unknown Character replied to Ashbringer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
But it's so simple. All I have to do is divine from what I know of you. Are you the sort of man who would put the poison into his own goblet or his enemies? Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I'm not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you, but you must have known I was not a great fool. You would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me. Now, I have not remotely made my decision because iocaine comes from Australia as everyone knows, and Australia is entirely peopled with criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them as you are not trusted by me, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But wait till I get going! Now where was I? Ah yes, Australia. And you must have suspected I would have known the powders origins, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me. Now you clearly think I'm just stalling now, but you'd be wrong. You've beaten my giant, which means you're exceptionally strong, so you could have put the poison in your own goblet, trusting in your strength to save you, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you've also bested my Spaniard, which means you must've studied, and in studying, you must have that learned that man is mortal, so you would have put the poison as far from yourself as possible, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me! And now you've revealed it. You've given everything away! I know where the poison is! And I choose— what in the world can that be? -->- 1443 replies

Goodness.
I'm listening to WoR (and reading SP3, and reading Unseen Academicals by Sir Terry Pratchett, but those are irrelevant), and I just got to the part where Amaram arrived.
It felt like a punch to the storming gut. I don't normally react hard to books, but I had to sit down after that one.

I should note that I was the one who hit VOCALS, so that Autonomous wouldn't have a majority after we exe a villager today. My current view of the plan involves me moving to Silverlight today, then VActioning a Shardic and putting Auto away on the same Turn. As far as I can tell, this is a surefire way to win, so it will be what I'm trying for until we decide otherwise.- 1443 replies

I don't think this works? I think we need to trigger specifically the village Sudden Death. Or at least that is the much easier way without you finagling things with your kill. @Ashbringer?- 1443 replies

Space Dragons - Another Chaotic RP

"As... that said, time travel is a misnomer. The proper term would likely be stationery relativity. According to every test we performed, it is impossible to go backwards in time, though we were unable to discern the reason for such. Now..." He trailed off. They had disappeared. He sighed. He would have to become used to this existence. This matter was troubling. A culling war. They had guessed at a higher civilization being responsible for the messages in the past, but Dragons? A mythical creature made flesh. Perhaps too flesh my Uen's standards. Eugh. Fleshy dragons were never something Uen that his eyes would be cursed with. -

You don't have a Vessel Shield, JNV does. If our goal is to not have an exe today, JNV is best, and Araris is good since if he dies it's no great loss.- 1443 replies

I don't know, still think a JNV (TJ) exe is safest. I wouldn’t be opposed to a tie though, I guess. @DrakeMarshall, is anyone on Nalthis currently?- 1443 replies

So who are we voting? Anyone who's not me, Drake, Araris, or JNV is up for grabs in my opinion. I think one of Stick/TJ is the safest, just to avoid the SoU. If anyone has any problems with that, let me know.- 1443 replies
