Long Game 72: The Secret of Shinovar
Quintessential replied to Ashbringer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Okay, so first of all--we've had someone use Abrasion three times now (D1, N1, and N2), and we've presumably also had one use of Division by Chanarach's Blade, unless one of the secrets has a kill action. We also know that Ishar's Blade was in the Stone Shaman's hands for all of C2, so it's unlikely that the Bearers of Chanarach or Vedel have any Light left at this point. That means that we won't have PMs during C4. It also means that XP almost certainly was the person who saved Matrim (not that that was in much doubt before), because if Vedel had done it then they wouldn't have had enough Light to open PMs. That basically rules out the possibility of Matrim being a WGG, so Stone Shaman (and Honorblade Bearers), if you ever need to claim to someone in order to relay info, Matrim is probably the best option. Though of course you should use your own discretion on that particular point. As for the people who were killed: both of them make a fair amount of sense from an elim's standpoint--they weren't overly suspected, probably wouldn't have been easily mislynched, don't give us much info, and it's possible that TJ accidentally claimed to an elim, or that Kaladin/Szeth scanned him with Gravitation. Because of that, I don't think we should discount the possibility that Chanarach's Blade is currently in the hands of an elim, and that that person opened PMs D1 or N1 so that the elims could try to pocket/find Honorblades. It's also a possibility that a villager or neutral with Chanarach's Blade had their own reasons for killing one of them, as others have said, but I notice that nobody else has really acknowledged that that Blade's Bearer could belong to an elim. Also, Stone Shaman? Keep an eye on the Blades list, and watch for all Blades that transfer hands. That should help us narrow down our list of suspects, since Battar's Blade is the one with the Blade-scan and RB abilities, so it could be quite useful to the elims.- 1329 replies

Of course! Why else would I be here playing? Well, apart from the occasional chance to be the one who makes things go wrong in the first place, of course.- 1329 replies

I was about to say, I'm not sure which part of that astounds me the most--that there was a way for seven villagers to kill the same person during the same night, or that you got them to do it, or that that person survived.- 1329 replies

Well the hope was that you knew... in the end, though, it probably isn't super important, since they're neutral and don't count for parity.- 1329 replies

Long Game 72: The Secret of Shinovar
Quintessential replied to Ashbringer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I know their win doesn't end the game, because that part was announced in the original rule-set. It doesn't overly surprise me that their alignment is neutral, either. What I mean by knowing their win-con being important is that if their win-con is something that they could accomplish more easily by helping the elims, then we probably want to be wary of them, whereas if their win-con is more easily accomplished by helping the village, they could be a good ally to us in terms of helping with votes, using their abilities to our collective benefit, etc. I'm not sure I understand this, exactly. Did they want to see whether experience was an elim or not?- 1329 replies

Long Game 72: The Secret of Shinovar
Quintessential replied to Ashbringer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
So, wait, did they claim to you in PMs? Or did you somehow figure it out yourself...? Since none of us even know who this person is, you almost certainly had more information to work from than we do. Them having a vote-manip could mean anything, and really the fact that they took a vote off of Ventyl will only be useful to us if we lynch Ventyl. If Ventyl is elim then regardless of what you think you know about the secret role, they're probably elim-aligned, assuming they had abilities that would let them know Ventyl's alignment in the first place. If not (edit: that is, if they don't have those abilities), then I don't see why they would have had such a good reason to save Ventyl, unless it is Ventyl--but again, the only way to determine for certain would be to lynch Ventyl. Not sure I like the idea of an information lynch, and I'm not really sure how important it is... that depends on the secret role's win-con and/or alignment and/or abilities, which I know almost nothing about.- 1329 replies

Long Game 72: The Secret of Shinovar
Quintessential replied to Ashbringer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
According to Eternum, it was a secret role who used that vote-manip. What that means, I'm not sure, since we have no idea of the win-conditions and/or alignments of the secret roles. Actually, @Eternum some clarification on what exactly you know about the secret role would be nice... not who it is or anything, but what they can do.- 1329 replies

Agreed; assuming that Chanarch's Blade is not currently held by an elim, whoever has it should be the one to open PMs tonight, not Vedel; we want as many chances as possible to save people.- 1329 replies

Ohhh okay that makes more sense. Also now that I think about it I should have realized that from the phrasing, since Division is blockable. This is apparently an unpopular opinion, but thank you- 1329 replies

Actually, Pailiah's Blade gives Progression (healing) and Illumination (which is immunity to scans as well as RBs and vote-manips). So, it's bad but it's not as bad as if it had Division on it too (the combination of Division and Illumination does not exist).- 1329 replies

So you're saying that N1 you used Tension on Mat to try to gain his trust, and then your Blade was recalled (order of actions -> Surges happen before reclaims). So you know that D2, Ishar's Blade was in the possession of the Stone Shaman, who is probably transferring it away this turn, and who can't use Blades so Ishar's Blade can't have been used?- 1329 replies

Long Game 72: The Secret of Shinovar
Quintessential replied to Ashbringer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
So, what are you saying? That one of the secret roles has a vote-manip? Because that would be the only explanation if Ishar's Blade was somehow out of commission (I'm going to guess you mean that whoever currently has it doesn't have Stormlight?). I don't know who used Adhesion on me, so you could be right that it was Kaladin, but I don't know why Kaladin would. I'm village, so if Kaladin used a vote-manip on me it would have been to try to frame me, but I was never in danger so that wouldn't have worked? And even if you believe I'm an elim (which you seem to), I was once again never in danger of being lynched, so I don't know why Kaladin would use their ability on me (or rather, either STINK or Araris), regardless of my alignment. For that matter, I also don't know why Ishar or a secret role would use a vote-manip on someone voting for me either, unless they used it on that person before that person switched to me. But we've already looked at that, and it doesn't seem likely. The explanation that makes the most sense is that someone was proving a Blade claim (or perhaps Kaladin was "proving" to have Ishar's Blade, if you're correct), and needed to demonstrate that they could actually do things.- 1329 replies

Or me Yes, Ishar's Blade is the other Blade that can remove a vote. Since we saw two vote-removals, we know Ishar's came into play at least once, with Kaladin being the other What does this mean?- 1329 replies

It just seems kind of like a waste of Stormlight to me. I mean, why not wait until you actually want to vote-manip someone and then claim and tell the person what to look for?- 1329 replies

Long Game 72: The Secret of Shinovar

Well, there was one point when they were tied for second with Ventyl (each of them had two votes) and XP had three votes. If somebody had seen the situation then, they might have gotten concerned... but that seems unlikely Edit: Is it bad that I can totally imagine Bearer-of-Ishar's-Blade!STINK removing his own vote on me just to see what we thought of it and laugh at our stupidity?- 1329 replies

I assume you meant STINK's first and only vote was on me. SfS didn't vote me at all last cycle. Also, thank you for pointing that out, I hadn't realized that was how it worked... I take it that what you're saying is, if somebody was already cancelling XP's vote and they weren't on when XP switched, then the cancellation would transfer to me?- 1329 replies
