I'm going to be serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Otherwise I would read it right away.

I'm going to see if I can scrounge up enough money just to buy the book and have my family hold onto it until I get back...

Why did I spend so much money on other stuff...

Bro same. I’m just glad I can read SA 5 before I go! I have to wait until the end of December.

I will be leaving this group in november of this year

Absolutely no clue how to feel about that

I’m just joining but same. Dragonsteel Minicon will be my birthday present. I’m kind of sad I didn’t find this forum until today.

Brandon in 2021 : "I've made some breakthroughs in aethers recently." 2023: Tress of the Emerald Sea

Brandon in 2023: Dragon Palaces! 2025: new secret project possibly relating to dragons.

     I'm sensing a pattern.

My theory is that this will finally be the Silverlight book.

For similar reasons I think this might involve The Grand Apparatus. Maybe one of the Dragon Palaces is some weird mechanical/clockwork building and that’s it?

The way you worded combined with @Storyspren proposing that Hoid might be Adonalsium has now given me a mental picture of the Shattering occurring by somehow condensing Adonalsium's consciousness into Hoid (basically putting Adonalsium into Hoid's body) and then using the fact Adonalsium was now technically mortal to kill him, alongside Hoid's body. But because of how invested Ado's mind would have been, Hoid left behind a cognitive shadow that the other's R/returned (I wish English had letters that were both capitalized and not at the same time for my use of that word) his cognitive shadow to his body.

I highly doubt this is the case, but that's the mental image this conversation is giving me.

I disagree with this for a couple of reasons.

    1. Hoid says in Tress that he was involved in a plot to kill God (Adonalsium). Yes, being the victim could count as involved, but the way he phrases it doesn’t sound like that to me.

    2. Brandon has been asked before if Hoid was Adonalsium. I will admit, I cannot find the WoB in question, but I am absolutely sure that it exists. Hoid is not Adonalsium.

    3. Dragonsteel takes place before the Shattering. That’s Hoid’s origin story. It wouldn’t make sense to be before the Shattering if Hoid didn’t exist until Adonalsium shattered.

Got my copy yesterday from Amazon and read through it last night

    SO MUCH STUFF in there

I'll need to re-read it probably with some note-taking going on... SO much happened.

Loved the ending and Wayne's choices/arc. Loved the vignette epilogues, that was neat

Gonna spoil some specifics just to be extra careful for now:

      Hide contents

Saze is just straight up lying to Kelsier now about the split of Harmonium and being able to generate Lerasium! I'm really scared for Saze in the coming books as he slips from Harmony to Discord as seems to be happening.

Also curious how he said that what happened to him in the future depends on Kel's choices

Dude the same thing happened to me, my preorder came a few days early. Currently I’m exhausted, trying to get through school, but it’s was totally worth staying up until midnight to read this. And as a Wayne Fan, I was extremely happy with this ending. After all, he saved the whole goshdang planet!

I thought that it was part of their small scale tests for the explosive and that they just made use of it to help sell their hoax.

Althought thinking about it I am not sure the timelines would have matched up for the start of their hoax as that started 4 years before but the harmonium experiments must have been 4 years.

Sorry, to clarify, I mean they probably just used regular dynamite or something to simulate the sound and vibrations of an eruption. This bothered a lot of people on the surface, too, but it mentioned that they only feel them every couple of months.

  7. Just something cool I noticed. In the Two Seasons broadsheet, it says something about the citizens feeling the effect of explosions building an “underground railway.” I think this is just supposed to be a tie in to the fact that they were convincing people underneath the city if Bilming that the Ashmounts were back, I think they were actually just causing the occasional explosion to add to the effect of the hoax. Just figured that was pretty cool, nothing else there.

  8. I think the last Shard could be the Survival Shard, with its Intent being something similar to Caution. I would like to think of it as being a sort of the inverse of Whimsy, with Whimsy being, “I take all sorts of risks without thinking, I just do whatever the heck I want,” and Caution being, “I need to think about this, I need to make sure I keep myself alive.”

Enlighten Truespren didn't exists before the true desolation so that's not possible. It's possible that the Truthwatcher using drawer 30-20 used another method to Voidbind but they can't be Naze-daughter-Kuzodo since both the sentences "We are uncertain the effects this will have on the parsh. At the very least, it should deny them forms of power. Melishi is confident, but Naze-daughter-Kuzodo warns of unintended side effects." and “Don't tell anyone. I can't say it. I must whisper. I foresaw this." come from emerald in the same drawer.

(By the way it's Kuzodo and not Kezudo)

It can be from the same person because they could have added more gems afterwards. I don’t know how Naze-daughter-Kuzudo could have warned of side effects without some kind of future sight. None of the spren, not even the Sibling, knew what would happen, otherwise the Sibling would have told Melishi what would happen.

  10. So, in Oathbringer, we learn about how Naze-daughter-Kezudo warned Melishi about possible side effects of imprisoning Ba-Ado-Mishram. How could she have known about this?

Simple explanation: In the gemstone archive, there is a small emerald in the drawer about Ba-Ado-Mishram. It says this:

    Quote

“Don't tell anyone. I can't say it. I must whisper. I foresaw this."

I think that was Naze-daughter-Kezudo, and that she became an Enlightened Truthwatcher all the way back then.

An excitng and fullfilling conclusion for an over a million word series that has taken around thirteen years IRL to complete, that would be a horrible way to end the book.

I agree. But there is still a possibility.

    A few points.

Either way there is a ceasefire no matter who wins.

And how exactly will a child kill Dalinar.

It’s a battle to the death, not to the killing . If Dalinar refuses to kill it, when he eventually dies of old age, it will be complete.

...could a leecher steal breath? I think in the coppermind there's a WoB where he says that stealing breath would be fairly effective...

A leecher does not steal Investiture, they like, remove it from objects or people. You might be able to remove them or temporarily make them ineffective, but they wouldn't steal them.
