  1. "Make your suggestion. He is even now charged with his electricity to lethal strength. How would you like me to detain him, to drug him comatose in a cell? To keep him close, when his freedom could mean the death of every person in this city? He knows his loyalties. He knows where he stands. If you have a suggestion that matches your ideal, make it. My mind only sees that inaction is the cruelest step to take." He lifted the sword to his shoulder, resting it there. "Severing the spine should suffice."
  2. "Can you honestly believe in a war with no death?" Vespyr called back, face still trained toward Cumulo. "If you would speak, do it now."
  3. "You're stalling," Vespyr whispered, closing the distance.
  4. ((I legitimately want to give Cumulo a nickname, but I succeeded my wisdom save.)) "Ah, yes," he said dryly, "You're here to kill me until you're about to die. Then you had innocent intentions." Vespyr clearly wasn't buying it.
  5. Vespyr walked toward him, the blade swaying at his side rhythmically, blood dribbling behind him. "I can't simply stop your heart, old friend. You'll just restart it, and I don't have the time to play at a war of attrition. This will be messy. I apologize for the inconvenience."
  6. "Not when they're sharp," Vespyr agreed. He infused the ground. Sand. It began to vibrate, and anyone standing on it -aside from himself- would begin to sink into it, up to their thighs. The drag should slow Cumulo down significantly, and by now, there should be some ranged fighters arriving from the academy.
  7. Vespyr removed the blade, swinging it lightly. "You always were reliant on something to do the job for you," he said, cutting the air experimentally. "Still. You know quality craftsmen."
  8. Vespyr smiled. He moved his arm just-so, and the blade ran clean between the two bones of his forearm. Twisting his arm abruptly, he jerked the sword's hilt down toward the ground in an attempt to disarm his opponent. It was that, or fall to the ground with the hilt, the blade still skewering Vespyr's forearm. With his other arm, he unleashed a barrage of blows on the head, shoulders, and neck of Cumulo while he had him trapped with his sword.
  9. ((Vespyr grabbed at the hand that was thrusting towards him, the one with the sword, unless he's wielding two blades? Sidestep, stepping into and past the blade, grab the wrist, palm-strike at the face?))
  10. Vespyr, for the most part, had been making minimal movements. He wasn't going to expend energy to chase Cumulo down; Cumulo was here to kill him, so he'd have to get close soon. It was easy to track his general direction because of the huge amount of sand and water he kicked up, and Vespyr burned through a little of his lightning bolt. He snatched at Cumulo's arm, swaying to the side, matching Cumulo's speed for an instant, and then slamming his palm towards the side of Cumulo's face.
  11. "Sorry," Corwin said, "I don't exactly need to use the bathroom right now, unfortunately, and I don't think any of you would like using that particular bodily fluid in battle." He positioned the knife over his existing wound, then he scratched the surface thinly. "It won't take much. Mix it with some water, about a 1-10 ratio should keep the friction affinity. If you can manipulate it like a superpower, that'd be great." He withdrew a bottle from his bag, catching the liquid. "Just pretend it's strawberry punch," he said cheerily.
  12. "Not unless I can magically spit or sweat a gallon, and the reserves I've saved are at the academy. There's no time; just do it."
  13. "How much?" he asked, voice high pitched, then he shook his head. "Never mind. Yes, I'm sure."
  14. "You're faster than the man who's practically faster than we can see?" he asked.
  15. “Do you honestly think I’m fast enough to do that without getting instantly skilled? Cadenza’s got the best chance of using my blood at a distance.”
  16. Corwin grunted at her, lips curled back in a frustrated snarl. “You can’t just let us plan, can you? You think you’re the only one smart enough to decide anything, but if you’re wrong, I die, and then you die!” He latched his arm around Janice, locking her in place. “Cruz, do your thing. @Condensation Cadenza, draw my blood, if you will. Mix it with some water; the ocean’s nearby. Try to freeze the area around that opponent.”
  17. “You have an antidote, right??” He glanced at Janice. “This is why you let people punch you!”
  18. “That doesn’t make it better-!” Corwin said, albeit in a hushed voice, belaying the inherent nature of his protest. Then, “Don’t give her a knife!” But Janice was on his injured side, and his response was too slow to stop her from slicing herself up. “Not so deep!” He urged, “Be careful!” Corwin was a bit of a worrywart, despite bravado.
  19. “I can punch you?” He offered, in what he thought was a polite tone. “I mean. Stabbing’s a bit extreme.”
  20. “Can you explode your blood?” He asked, “Is that why you want us to gut you?”
  21. “What, is your ability to make zero friction areas with your bodily fluids?” He asked, smirking.
  22. He shrugged. "It's not gonna kill me. I'm pretty fast at recovering!" he insisted, his bandaged arm still pretty useless at his side.
  23. Corwin blanched significantly. "You're friends with the assassin that attacked his lawyer mid-trial and ran?! Isn't he supposed to be a psych- I mean-" His face went very red, and he stammered, caught between the need to express how insane the situation was and his desire to not be nice. He eventually gave up the endeavor. "Cadence, do you think you can freeze the area over with a thin sheet of my blood?"
  24. Corwin gave Torao a frustrated sigh. "Aren't we training to try to group up and take out the Queen of all these monsters? And we're getting a little shy because we're facing one of 'em? Come on, give me some ideas. I'm not saying we need to get close, but if I can get some of my blood or sweat or something on his feet, that'd slip up that guy so Vespyr can get in some shots. We've signed up to take on people who are stronger than us, so let's not just watch or run. Let's think. What can we do to help?"
