  1. "Well... when we fought, she froze me solid, but she hasn't intentionally tried to kill me yet," he said, and color flooded his face as he looked away.
  2. Corwin's jaw dropped, and his mouth gaped wide. "Really? That was the conversation you needed to have? You aren't going to fight for the death or try to lock her in a cage or possess her mind or something crazy?" The boy, of course, had been assuming the greatest danger and highest drama situation.
  3. Corwin saw her reaction. Perhaps bravely, but definitely stupidly, he stepped between the two and put a hand on a small knife at his belt. “Leave her alone.”
  4. "Head right in," she said amiably.
  5. "Form's right here," she said sweetly, smiling broadly. Corwin pointed at the masked, swathed girl. "That's her."
  6. He nodded. “I need to return to my students now.”
  7. “Then you will do half lessons. Half of the day, you will learn basic life skills. You will read and study. Enjoy literature and sharpen your mind. The second half of the day, you will practice with the others. You do not have long, and should you die, I do not want you to pass from this life without enjoying the skills, resources, and stories it has to offer.” @Condensation Corwin staggered into the room, then skittered over. “There’s this creepy girl asking about you.”
  8. He nodded. “She must not become a problem. This could be the only chance to kill the queen. Now. Were you able to fill any of the documentation out?”
  9. "It is important that you understand this. I doubt that the queen has no safeguards. Your friend does not know why she was able to escape as a manifestation, nor where she gets the energy to exist as she does. Without knowing, she could be eyes and ears for The Queen. You must be cautious."
  10. He sighed heavily. "And your... incorporeal friend. She is not to be on school premises. I trust she informed you of that condition?"
  11. "I do not know your friend. I cannot see faces, and only meet my students personally at the beginning and end of a day. If you came here for her, I do not know if she is here. I have no need of those who abandon this cause once it didn't suit them. This is dangerous."
  12. He shrugged. “Why would you enroll if you were simply searching for someone?” He asked, still terse.
  13. He stared evenly with skin-overgrown sockets. "Why are you here?"
  14. Vespyr rounded the corner at that time. He seemed annoyed. "I sent you a note allowing your entry, and you attack the messenger?" he asked, not so much angry as annoyed. "What were you thinking?"
  15. Corwin huffed, still mistrustful. He crossed his arms over his chest, but despite his stance, his shoulders still shook. "Go on, get back to class," the woman said. "Get going." Corwin shuffled off, and she turned back to Janice. "You here alone, or do you have people with you?"
  16. "You'll make more. Your friend bumped into Corwin and already has the kid making sure that no one takes her by surprise. He's a protective and stubborn little devil." she thumbed back at Corwin, who was eager to be free of the situation, and already all the way down the hall. "Reminds me of how my little brother used to be." She lifted her chin. "So. You'll find a thousand new people here. Make more friends. Don't confine yourself to one."
  17. "Kid, it's not that big of a deal. Children fight all the time. You'll meet new friends, or you'll fight for a week or two and make up later. Just roll with the punches."
  18. "Is she your friend? If she doesn't want to see you, then you respect her choice and live your life, not hers." The woman tilted her head to one side. "That's some advice my father gave me, back when I was small. He was an admiral who only recently retired. Wisest man I know. You can't control how others act or choose, but you can choose to act honorably yourself."
  19. She shook her head. "I'm listening to both sides, and just giving you advice. Corwin, get back to class. Kid," she said, addressing Janice, "I'm sure your friend, ex or not, will at least tolerate your presence while at this school. I doubt you're terrifying enough to send her running at the sight of you."
  20. "Calm down," the woman said, quiet, yet seemingly in control of the situation. "Have you considered talking this out honestly, then letting each other figure this through? You can get in trouble for using your abilities on other students. The principal takes attacks on anyone under his authority VERY seriously." She stared levelly at Janice. "If you can mess with people's bodies and what they can do, or if one of your friends can, that needs to only happen during authorized matches. You could get expelled. Messing with someone's agency is evil."
  21. "If she's your friend, why do you have to catch her and force her to be around you?" Corwin snapped, "Did you try to hurt her like you tried to hurt me just now? Push me into a little ball in my brain so you can make my body do what you say?" He was very indignant.
  22. "You did something to my head, and I didn't even touch you! You're after my friend, and you said as much!" The young woman raised both hands. "Calm down. I'm sure this is a misunderstanding. What's going on here?"
  23. He walked faster, then passed a couple of people in the halls. "Get the principal," he said, "These weirdos won't leave me alone, and one of them did something to my head." The two people frowned. One stayed behind with him, but the other clearly had a speed boosting ability, because she was off like a shot. The other firmly stood and put her hands on her hips. "You. You're not permitted to attack another student in the halls," she said to Janice. She did not have sight of Trace, yet.
  24. "Leave me alone," he hissed, stomping the other way, leaving her in the hallway.
  25. "Get off!" he threw her hand off. "Stop following me! And whatever your creepy friend did, I'm making SURE the headmaster knows!"
