  1. Caden furrowed his brow, "my reward, sire?"
  2. "It will be done, my lord. If I may ask, what is your purpose with this? If I know, then I can better perform your will."
  3. The radio buzzed once more, but a different voice came from it. "Hodak, this is the 274th air support squadron. We're beginning our attack run, clear the area." A different voice came from the radio, one that sounded more winded. "You're clear 2-74th, happy bombing!"
  4. Caden didn't lift his head from the bow quite yet. "It is my duty, my lord."
  5. Caden marched down the hallway towards the King's chambers, his two personal guards at his side as always. Last night had been intensive, and as always, his sleep was restless. As he made the way down the hallway, he shouted at a maid who dared to get in his way, batting away at her with his gauntleted hand. Normally lashing out made him feel better, but it only left a low growl in his throat. He wanted to relish for another opportunity to lash out, but his growling only grew more intense. So it was to be one of those mornings. He let out a sigh of resignation right before he approached the door to the King's chamber, signaling to the guards who stood on either side to make way for him. As he entered the chamber, he bowed himself before the king. "You summoned me, my lord?"
  6. Caden approached the Ravenness's shoulder, "not a finger, woman."
  7. Caden didn't respond as he stared down the Ravenness, standing up taller to fill in the confidence that he knew he was lacking in this woman's presence.
  8. Caden growled deeply in his throat, "yes. But if you're going to visit them, I will not have you go alone."
  9. Caden looked towards Ivian, "if it is your will, my lord." He bowed, glaring at the Ravenness in a moment when she wasn't looking at him before leaving the room.
  10. Caden looked to where he had planned on going and debated about leaving behind the Ravenness, but he decided that it would be better to both no displease the woman, and to watch her interaction with the King. He growled in a tone of resignation as he reluctantly followed behind the Ravenness
  11. Caden had to physically hold himself back from striking the Ravennes as she tapped his chest in fear of what she could do if he were placed under her stewardship. He could feel his blood rushing as he spoke, and had to clench his teeth and ball his fists to withhold his anger. "Then go ask him yourself, Ravennes. I'm sure he's looking forward to being in your company."
  12. Panic gripped Caden's chest at the demand, and dread filled him as thoughts came to him about what the Ravenness could do to him. Regardless, he raised his voice and puffed out his chest. "You might outrank me, but your opinion does not outweigh that of the King's!"

  14. Caden's breath caught in his chest when he recognized the voice from earlier. He debated continuing on as if he hadn't heard the Ravenness, but he silently scoffed at the thought of such a woman giving up so easily. He stopped, and he then turned around to face Ravenness. "I am pressed for time, Ravenness. Make this quick."
  15. Caden strode down the hall of the castle, trying to make it to the meeting chamber in as little time as possible. He barely looked up as he mulled over what he knew about the man he was to meet. It was only when he heard the sound of voices that he realized how close his journey took him to the ballroom. As he let out a soft curse, he tried his best to get as far away from that room as possible. The last thing he wanted was to be confronted by dozens of nobles leaving a party.
  16. "As you wish, my lord." Caden stood up and left the room, where he was confronted by a messenger. "General, sir! We have found a hunter as you asked." "Good," Caden barely stopped to acknowledge the messenger as he went to fulfill the King's command. "Have him sent to the commoner's conference chamber, I will deal with him there." The messenger hastily saluted as he whipped around to run off and do as he was told, leaving Caden to growl to himself at the thought of being forced to deal with those idiotic noblefolk as he released them from the lockdown.
  17. "All of the prisoners are accounted for, and your would-be assassins have been caught and sent to the Ravenness's dungeon. If you wish to lift the lockdown my lord, then I will see to it."
  18. Caden obviously held reservations, but he kept them to himself. "As you wish, my lord. I will prepare a trap for the traitors."
  19. "My lord," Caden lowered his head into his bow once more, "I wish to move the prisoners from your palace to guarantee your safety when the rescue happens."
  20. "I have gathered what information I can from her, and I now know that Robin will attempt some sort of rescue for the two, my lord. One that I intend to be ready for."
  21. "We have captured someone who came to rescue the child. She claims to be a follower of Robin, my lord." Caden lifted his head to look at Ivian. "I have discovered that when using the child as leverage, her attempted rescuer will do whatever I ask. In return for her service, I have sworn that the child will be kept safe."
  22. Caden bowed, "my lord, the situation with the prisoners has changed."
  23. Caden approached the King's personal wing of the castle, trying to clear his throat of the scratchy quality that had started to come to a head recently through rather forceful coughing. As he neared the King's chamber itself, he managed to get control of himself by clearing his throat. He nodded to the guards stationed at the King's door, which were trained as part of his Praetorium Guard, and commanded them to awaken the King, despite the hour. @Channelknight Fadran
  24. As the air withdrew from the area, the flames began to die down until they were practically nothing. Once the flames were down, a gel-like substance was revealed to be coating the ground where the flames were.
