  1. Welcome, welcome! We are all about just figuring it out here don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions! So glad you got hooked on SA! It is such an amazing series! Random rereads of the books is quite an excellent habit, much applaud (And if you happen to master random rereads WHILE doing other things let me know, would make things so much more enjoyable!) Glad you decided to join us! I think if you just kept coming here then it's a good sign our Comserefaninator is working. Glad it won't be needing repairs again this week can be rather tiresome ! Welcome to the Shard!
  2. Ok phew ... this is like the Sanderson version of an insurance risk assessment. Seeing how high risk, high reward you are. I'm glad you wouldn't risk it, I think you pass our safety evaluation . And yeah those points are completely true. No matter how well you protect it something will go wrong and something bad will happen. I would totally agree with that, no matter how many benefits we might get from Feruchemy the possible dangers of Hemalurgy definitely outweigh them. Good thinking all around! Glad to have you on the Shard!
  3. They're just havin a little Mods for Memes get together!
  4. Ooh most definitely recommend finishing it then! Some people are meh on the ending and some people really like it but either way you'd at least enjoy finishing it! Feruchemy is quite a popular answer good choice! Those are really concrete answers though I like that creative thinking . Being able to store your wakefulness for just everyday tasks would be quite practical I agree! Would definitely be useful for when you have a lot of work to do (or to just make Monday's a tad nicer to start off on ). Also the way it is more "balanced" because it is end neutral might help ingrain that important value into society to go away from the take, take, take, "what do you mean we're damaging our sole habitat?" attitude that exists at the current moment Ok here's some complexity though, if you could bring in Feruchemy but you also had to bring along Hemalurgy would you still do it? And if you did, would you set up any special safeguards or just hope for the best??
  5. Ohh yeah totally I see what you mean now (I was thinking similar sorts of technologies but this makes more sense)!! Yes those parts do have really realistic methods as far as the ways they approach the in world science. Good connection!
  6. Linked to make it easier to find and enjoy to your hearts content!!
  7. Linked for ease because when new to the forum understanding where things are is a little difficult (and I just like linking things )!
  8. Well... popular theory says by reading all of it... but I haven't gotten around to that either Would be nice if it could tell you by just indexing the images on the thread like the Google "search by image" function but that's likely more trouble than it's worth Generally though, if you didn't make it, it's probably been used (but sometimes you and someone else just happen to be twinsies )
  9. He lurks no longer!! Welcome to the Shard my friend! It was at this moment he knew.... he had found his true love (lols jkjk ) but you have absolutely nothing to worry about! I think it's more odd to not devour every single Brandon book as fast as humanely possible. Devouring and rereading and rereading, and devouring again.... and then more devouring... and then some rereading again.... and then rereading again.... and then more devouring- (ok I'm done now ) just means you are all the more perfect! And you only read the first two Reckoners??? Didn't finish it off yet? Or just don't remember? Finally, being a nerd and having absolutely no control when reading Sanderson books is quite a common habit here! We applaud you are in good company (although I don't know what the rest of the world would say, but I mean how sane can you be if you haven't read Sanderson yet !!). Which magic system in the Cosmere would you bring into the real world, if you could only choose one?
  10. Yay glad you got around to making an account as well! Nice to have you here! Ah... I remember this day... many an eon ago where I discovered there were more books, books that exist in the same universe, books that share similarities and characters across worlds, books that part the waters and unite nations, BOOKS THA- Ok maybe not so preachy but yes this is honestly one of the better days of my life when I realized there were more books and they all were in the same universe and that they all had shared connections and similarities and I absolutely positively just had to read EVERYTHING!! So glad you found it and us! This is so true wow that's a really awesome way to think about it!! I totally agree it feels like something we could accomplish and maybe bring a bit of the magic here into the real (but I mean who's to say Brandon isn't actually just from another universe ) world! Welcome to the Shard!
  11. Welcome, welcome! Glad to have you here with us as well!! Stormlight Archive is definitely a good place to start! And if you are only on the first you most definitely have a journey ahead of you! Just be careful reading every second (which of course you will now have to ), reading while walking has yielded some rather poor encounters with poles and such (and potholes, no falling down potholes on us!). If you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out to anyone everyone around here is super friendly and awesome! And the Shard is perfect for getting your Sanderson on, although, as everyone else pointed out, if you are just starting might want to wait a bit before diving into the specific book forums (but how long is it really gonna be before you've read every Sanderson book ever yknow?? ). Welcome to the Shard!
  12. I'm sorry, I'm sorry!!! That was not how it was supposed to sound at all lol was just making conversation on my observations!!! Humblest apologies all around I recognize the error of my ways and have committed to just one (unintentional) old joke per year so I'm out now (and it should really be 0 *sigh*). Yikes, I think I need to check out my own post in Tactics To Making A Good Post (totally not a self plug don't know what you're talking about) again oof. Terribly sorry! And as I said in a (perfectly not well executed) recovery :
  13. Yeah no I totally get you, absolutely! I was just saying like I speak English every day and if you asked me to name the tenses I'd be like uh bruh I'm gonna have to get back to you on that. Yet I use it every day so I should know. People use an operating system every day but knowing the name is like the same thing. You might get the log in, do your thing, log out and just gloss over the OS name
  14. Eh, the more you do the more you know thing. I was surprised the first time someone said this too but in retrospect it's really not that surprising. Everyone's good at something and not as good at others. Could you have named what tenses you were using at each point in that sentence? Probs not but I betchu Condensation could have. Did she know the operating system? Nah, but grammar she got us lapped. It's just what you put time into. Both are things you use everyday but might not know the specifics of if it's not important to direct function
  15. I need these finger guns man how are you doing this????
  16. I... *sigh* Edit: Oh and just in case my last post had small print under the image Condensation just making sure you read it...
  17. Best thing I've seen all day lmao. Sadly, I don't think I'm helping @Condensation@The_Truthwatcher For the record Condensation I do believe you are right about them. The first correction makes it slightly better actually but they both work. And you are quite smart that part doesn't apply I just thought this would be funny lols
  18. Oh dear.... "Sir, we're gonna have to evacuate sector 5 here. Anticipating some... high profile grammatical warfare. 15 universe radius minimum clearance"
  19. Sorry, sorry!!! I had to at least once lol . From now on I'll try to follow proper grammaticalized convention (ok from now on, it was just begging for it )
  20. And I'm guessing the lesson stopped there..... or idk frog could maybe be a compliment?? WOWOWOW I didn't think you would actually do it I feel so honored !! You're the human version of Grammarly!!
  21. Ohhhhhh that's sick!! That's like the perfect use of it, getting it to work in context and time period! Not only that but it probably helps introduce people who read modern Chinese to old Chinese in a way where they can still understand the novel but also be introduced to the full immersion. That's a really great challenge! And... WOAHH! That's awesome! That takes dedication to fit that all together and is quite a creative idea!
