  1. I guess Dalinar finally found the god greater than Honor he's been looking for ever since learning that Honor is dead. The aptly named the God Beyond. I wonder how he learned of that. Spiritual Realm powers? I'm very glad Kaladin has been taken off duty. Let the man finally have some time to reflect and sort things out. Maybe get some healthy coping mechanisms, as a treat. I'm kind of surprised most orders just decided to run with the revelation that the singers are the natives of Roshar. I expected more of an outcry. I guess there's the Windrunners that are uncomfortable with it and then there's Dalinar. I can't wait to see how this moral dilemma plays out.
  2. Sadeas encouraged Dalinar to burn Rathalas. If he was opposed to the decision, he would've at least tried to dissuade him (although I don't think he would have succeeded), but he actively supported him. Sadeas was just as bad as Dalinar, but he was sly about it, while Dalinar was transparent about who he was. And Dalinar ultimately decided to change, while Sadeas felt no remorse for his actions. Also, Sadeas slaughtered Parshendi that surrendered, not to mention using the bridge crews and betraying his allies. Yeah, I think Adolin was in the right for doing the stabby-stab. (And I imagine it would've gone much worse for Team Radiant at Thaylen City if Sadeas was on Odium's side in place of Amaram. So... Good job Adolin.)
  3. I got spoiled about Jasnah coming back too. I saw a post about Jasnah becoming queen in book 3, so I knew she couldn't stay dead. I was spoiled for Elhokar's death and I knew Nightblood, Vasher and Vivenna show up in Stormlight, so I wasn't surprised when they did. And I was also spoiled about who the kandra was in Shadows of Self. I had no idea who the three guys were in the interlude in Way of Kings, I didn't even think they were relevant until I saw people talking about it. And somehow it completely slipped by me that it's Kelsier at the end of Bands of Mourning the first time I read that scene. But there were still a bunch of twists that caught me completely by surprise (humans being the Voidbringers, Denth's betrayal in Warbreaker, Vin's earring), so getting spoiled about some stuff didn't really take away from my enjoyment of the books.
  4. - I think that predicting the future is not of Odium, it's of Cultivation. We know Cultivation is very good at seeing the future, and I think she's also very good at granting other people the ability to see or predict the future. I think all elements (besides Moelach, of course) that have to do with prediction are her doing. Renarin, the Diagram, the nightforms mentioned in the listener songs (I think they'll show up in present day too). - Cultivation tasked Sja-anat with corrupting Glys and bonding him with Renarin. - The Diagram was Cultivation's attempt at helping humanity against Odium, but Taravangian has messed it up by editing it with the Death Rattles. Odium is manipulating Taravangian through Moelach, giving him glimpses of the past or future without context and causing him to turn the plan in Odium's favor. - Navani and her scholars won't be able to return the Sibling, so they'll be forced to find another way to make Urithiru work. Maybe by creating a 'robot spren' like Nightblood, but one that works properly. Maybe Zahel will help them out, and we'll learn more about the creation of Nightblood. - Venli will become Dalinar's champion. Since the signers were originally of Honor, it seems fitting. Though, whoever it is, it will not be Kaladin, that's too obvious. On that note, Moash will not be Odium's champion. Again, too obvious.. - Tezim will become an antagonist and will be killed by the end of the book. - Dai-gonarthis was on Aimia, but the expedition there (that will happen in 'Dawnshard') unknowingly brought him back to the main continent. - Zahel will reveal to Hoid how he left Nalthis and that'll help Hoid can figure out how to worldhop with his spren.
  5. No, I wouldn't risk it. Hemalurgy is cool, but it's suuuuper creepy. Even if you set up safeguards, people will find a way to get around them. So I'll stay as far away from Hemalurgy as possible, even if it means not having Feruchemy.
  6. I read the reckoners when there were only two books out, then kind of... forgot about it. I own the books, so I should reread them. As for which magic system I would choose, I'd have to go with Feruchemy because it's not entirely combat centric and you can develop cool tech with unkeyed and unsealed metalminds. Also, storing wakefulness and tapping it during exam season or when a new book comes out sounds wonderful.
  7. I didn't want to read them at first but the hype got to me I like reading them spaced out over weeks because I'm a fast reader and I tend to speed through books without really savoring them. I wish I could've waited until November but I don't have the self-control.
  8. Awakening! But Feruchemy is a close second (I'm a nerd, I would love to have a coppermind to store facts in and pull them out whenever I need them).
  9. I decided not to read Way of Kings Prime, but I'll check out the White Sand prose if it's better than the graphic novel (I really didn't like that one). Also Aether of Night sounds cool, so I should get around to that. I read the first two books of the reckoners a loooong time ago, so I don't remember anything. Maybe I should do a reread. Best sidekick is definitely Nightblood.
  10. Definitely Roshar (Brandon worldbuilt the hell out of that place), but Nalthis also has a special place in my heart. Awakening might be my favorite magic system.
  11. Long time lurker here, decided to make an account and introduce myself. I learned about the Cosmere in middle school and read Mistborn Era 1, which I liked but Stormlight intimidated me so I didn't read anything else in the series for a loooong time. I finally picked up Way of Kings a few months ago and fell instantly in love. I devoured the rest of the Cosmere over the summer, and re-read Stormlight again when I was finished (I might have a problem). Anyway, I'm looking forward to discussing, theorizing and generally screaming about Rhythm of War with you guys!
