https://coppermind.net/wiki/Hoid Yeah but just because Hoid wants it doesn't mean he'll get it - there's plenty of other people with different end goals.

Spren are mostly in the Cognitive Realm, or is that visual representation misleading? Also anyone else think it's weird that the things someone saw inside of a highstorm (it's time for a reread) didn't show up in the Cognitive Realm? Investiture is limited in some way since you can convert it to mass and energy and there's a limited amount of both of these. It's probably practically limitless, but not actually. Or maybe his mind is just better suited to this kind of thing because of his nature/experiences as a mortal? Or maybe even the nature of the Shard he holds gives him a more efficient/powerful version of mind expansion during Ascension?

And run a massive spy ring.

Do we have any idea what it is? That would give her three systems, which is a lot all things considered.

Aluminum causes its effects in the Metallic Arts, not the other way around. It's also interesting to note that because people rarely go mining on Roshar they haven't yet developed the tech for aluminium, even though gilded spheres would be one of the easiest ways to defeat Surgebinders.

We don't know, since it's a conscious action for two Shards to collaborate on making in Invested Art, which means it will be directly stated or implied at some point in the books set on that world. The three magic systems off the top of my head that are Dishardic are Feruchemy, the Dor (which is a weird one), and Surgebinding. Edit: sorry, double posted

In-inquisitors had kids?

No, for instance, anyone can burn Lerasium or any of its alloys
-
And it might! Unless there's a WoB that says it doesn't, in which case it can't.

Twinborn and divine influences [Era 2 and Secret History Spoilers]
Hoidolasium replied to PleatherDuster's topic in Mistborn
Idle thought, but maybe that was actually a side effect of Savantism. -
Each Order has differing levels of similarity between their member's oaths. Lightweavers have the most personal oaths, which are just acknowledging increasingly important personal truths. Skybreakers have the least personal oaths, the only flexibility is in their interpretation. By the way my fellow Hoid you could find a lot of the answers to your questions on the Coppermind with a little digging, not that I don't appreciate the discussion.

Just sugar? I thought she could metabolize anything digestible.

Wait, why doesn't that work? Is it grammatically incorrect? They seem the same to me...

Probably Pewter. Pewter is sick.

Right, and what I'm saying is that the mass of the finished metal matters more than the amount of Lerasium. If one bead of pure Lerasium makes you as strong a Mistborn as one bead of alloy of the same size, but you're using a lot less Lerasium in the alloy, then you're somehow losing Investiture - assuming you can't split one bead of Lerasium evenly among 16 alloys, which I guess is totally possible. If they aren't even, then there is no way to account for this loss.

Shardbearers are going to be a lot less in control of their strength than Pewterarms, since they are getting a fair amount of sensory deprivation and size and weight increase. We never really see Shardbearers ripping people in half either, in fact, they both seem to do similar amounts of damage in a punch without leverage. (the Radiant gets a big strength boost if they have solid footing) It would be boring if they fought the same! Mistborn abilities tend towards improving their ability to assasinate, while Shardplate and Blade are used in direct confrontations against large groups of people. A Shardbearer is of course going to charge right in, since their abilities let them take out massive groups of people at no risk. A Mistborn needs to be faster and tactical, since we know Pewter is relatively limited in how much damage you can resist. Having a Shardblade encourages Sharbearers to fight in that style, and people with only armor to replicate it. Pewterarms can't take as many hits, so a normal one couldn't play the same role as a Shardbearer. They wield normal weapons because they have no need for massive hammers, which would only make them a target. Also it's very nitpicky of me to point this out but it's Koloss is only spelled with one l.

They were more experienced, their raw power level was probably lower, although there's not really an exact metric. That's not really how a traditional alloy works. The lerasium would always make up a similar percentage each time the alloy is created, so the power level will always be the same. Like any other Mistborn, Elend was probably close to constantly burning pewter, because it gives you greater speed, endurance, and grace in addition to strength. We haven't seen any prominent Pewterarms in Era 2 besides Tarson, but his strength doesn't seem to be at the level of throwing a car or carriage even with being Koloss-blooded.

This is a valid point but they did do it, I imagine it's one of those moments where Brandon sacrifices a little bit of consistency for a better scene.

I will third this, Emperor's Soul and Secret History are some of the best short stories you'll ever read.

5000 subscriber Q&A question submission!
Hoidolasium replied to Chaos's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
How do you come up with good questions? But in all (semi)seriousness, who would win: a Radiant or a Mistborn? It's not very deep but I really want to know your opinions. -
Thanks! I meant the bit under your profile name, I just miss-typed it. I like my account name as it is.

I would assume all Hemalurgic abilities in the table, but I guess it could steal other Invested Arts too. I the more general ones, like Connection, would probably have the same effect at the same bind point.
-
Yeah, I'll accept that.

Gods, I haven't used the word "snazzy" in a while. Anyway, basically everyone has a bit about them under their profile pic and under their posts, and I just don't know how to do that, if someone would be so kind as to point me in the right direction. Honestly, I don't even know what I would put but it's been annoying me for a while.
