  1. For the second episode of the Worldhoppers Podcast, (the non spoiler discussion avoiding the rest of the Cosmere and the last two books of era 1) I would like to bring some fun facts regarding the lore of the Final Empire. What were some popular theories before the next book was published? Is there anything interesting surrounding that time? Any other facts in the style of the ones Drew from Inking out Loud brings to the end of their Wheel of Time episodes? (If you have some for the other Mistborn books, they're welcome, and I'll bring them up when we get there) Spoiler bits of lore are also welcome for our full spoiler discussion.
  2. I have my theory for this, but it's based on the parallels with WOT mostly.
  3. Definitely. Book snobbery isn't worth it, and there's always something you can learn from other genres.
  4. I really like that one too. This wasn't meant to be extensive by any means, on my reread of Mistborn I've already noticed so much I missed the first time around. As for what I write, I generally go to original high fantasy. Slowly working on my second novel, though the first was actually on the long side of a Novella.
  5. Thanks. My favorite cosmere book is really hard to choose. My favorite of the novellas is Emperor's Soul, but counting all the full length books its hard. Warbreaker has a special place in my heart because it was the first of his I read, and I need to sit on ROW a while (and probably reread it) to make a good decision. As for which character I have the biggest crush for, maybe Adolin. I love how he's always supporting his friends.
  6. This is an article I wrote a couple of months back about foreshadowing in fantasy. It is one of my favorite topics to talk about, as evidenced by this, and how I immediately jumped to the chance of being on the Dusty Wheel's episode on foreshadowing. I'd love to discuss it with all of you, and hear your opinions on the topic. Copy_of_Foreshadowing.pdf
  7. definitely. Looking at this from a writer's perspective, not for theory crafting, I have to say that the analysis of his foreshadowing has really taught me a lot, and this just proves it once again.
  8. It's been a long time since I've been here. Back when I joined the first time, I was still too new to the Cosmere, and all this was overwhelming. But now I'm ready for even more of a deep dive than I've already taken. Anyway, I'm Cheyenne, though you'll probably see me by different usernames and pseudonyms depending on where you find me. I'm a really big Wheel of Time fan as well, (though I haven't taken as much of a deep dive there as I have for the Cosmere) hence the username, and am the Head Clerk for the Gray Ajah and ambassador for the Weaves of the Wheel community. I started the Worldhoppers Podcast with two of my friends, with the first episode coming the 16th, geared towards first time readers, and helping them out, and have a discord for that too. I'm looking forward to being more involved with the community at large, rather than just reading the books and looking through the arcanum and coppermind, talking mostly to the people on the discord and my closest reading friends.
  9. I’ve been reading the prose version and really liking it. I am not that fond of graphic novels in general, and was wondering if I can listen to the episodes on White Sand (they have one on each volume) of the Sandersonian Institute of Cosmere Studies, and how much I’d be missing if I only read the prose version.
  10. I agree with a lot of what you said here. I loved comparing this version to the canonical one, and seeing how Brandon handled the same or similar aspects differently depending on the version. It was a great read for that reason, though I could see its flaws, and how Brandon improved. The comparison helped me understand a lot for my own writing.
  11. Definitely hard. I relate a lot with Vivenna, but Dalinar is one of the best written, and incredibly interesting as a character
  12. I normally call him either Brandon or Brandon Sanderson. About the nickname, I’ll just tell the full story. I was watching one of Brandon’s lectures, on character, and he was giving an explanation on how to put characterization into fight scenes, and my brother (he’s 8) latched on to this one sentence about a character kicking someone, and just said “kickface”. Everytime I mention Brandon, my brother says kickface because he knows it annoys me to no end.
  13. Hard, very hard. Warbreaker has a special place in my heart because it was the first of his I read, but I’m not sure which would be my favorite and least favorite.
  14. Hello, I’m Valerie, and I’ve been a Cosmere and Brandon fan since the end of last year. I also write, and Brandon is one of my main inspirations. I listen to his lectures and talk about him so much, that my family has their own nickname for him, based on something my brother said based on something he heard from his lectures when I was listening to it. I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you.
  15. I'm at the bottom of the index, but the link doesn't work
  16. I did use a different email once, but I didn't get it for some reason, only the regular newsletters
  17. Thanks for the welcome. And I did check, but it isn't there. Is it the same version that's in Arcanum Unbounded? I have that one
  18. I signed up for the newsletter, but don't have the prose version of White Sand. Does anyone know why?
