"Okay," Martin says as the boy disappears. Now, to find Chrysler. He leaves the mess hall as well, and starts walking. @Negative_Null -
"I don't know."

"Nope. He was gone when I got back. Off with Nath, I heard."

"Martin," Martin says. He told the kid that already, but he doesn't mind having to repeat it.

"Yeah. At least there are things to look at while you're walking around here." Deserts are boring a lot of the time.

"I don't know. Maybe not. What about you? Just passing through, or sticking around?"

"No." He smiles a little. "I wished I was, though."

"Well..." How much does he want to tell him? For that matter, can he tell him? He doesn't know if Ayia wants the mission to remain classified or not. "Um, injured on a mountain and partially reliving one of my worst nightmares." Is that too heavy for a kid?

"Before I joined this group, or three hours ago?"

"When you showed up, he told you where you were, how to get around?" Martin doesn't know how to talk to kids, but this is actually going decently.

"Fadran? Yeah, I've talked to him. He's a good one. He got you oriented?"

"Really? That seems like a long way." To be fair, he doesn't know how far out they are from any settlements, but kids get tired quicker.

"Martin," Martin says, stepping the rest of the way in and sitting down. "I don't think I've seen you around before." He definitely hadn't seen any kids last time he was here.

Martin leaves the tent and wanders around, looking for Chrysler. He pokes his head into the mess hall. @Matrim's Dice

"I'm going to find Chrysler. I have some questions for her."

"Great. So now we just wait for Fadran to get back?"

"That still doesn't make sense to me, but give it a couple days." He shakes his head. "Is there anything else I should know?"

"Interesting." "But you have to meet criteria to use it? It's like, I could hold a packet of pasta, but not know how to open it." That is the worst analogy he's ever made. "I don't know where I'm going with that."
