  1. "It's a resistance. If I had to guess, they've been relying on magic users - people who can do a lotta damage, rather than numbers." He taps the hand not at his neck against the table. "We need to start looking at records. See how many people are here. It's possible this isn't the only camp."
  2. "Food's a big one. Keep people fed, and they're going to be happier. The other big one is keeping people from getting bored. And there's always jobs to be done in a war camp." The pressure beneath his skin is growing. He knows he knows what it is. Why can't he think of what it is?
  3. "Keep it up," he responds. "It helps when you keep your own mood up, or at least pretend to."
  4. "Right. How much time do I have?"
  5. "Tidally locked though, and habitable? That's interesting. At least to me." He's felt this sensation before. Almost like someone pressing fingers against his neck, right beneath the skull. "There's a lot of factors to that."
  6. "I know that's not really specific. But I don't know too much about that quadrant, unfortunately."
  7. "Well, since I don't know how I got here, no idea. But if I could get there, I'd advise avoiding the Atlantic, and if you can, don't get too close to Antarctica. There's a base there with an itchy trigger finger. And blend in, people are hyper suspicious."
  8. "Then go to Australia. Only place with common sense these days, or so the saying goes."
  9. "I think there might be, at least in some places." Things on Earth had been pretty vague for years, but he seems to remember a few places that had those rules.
  10. "That's quite frankly terrifying. Fifteen is way too young to be leading anything. Sorry." He would kind of like to see Eon against that system, though.
  11. "Lighteyes isn't an organiz - I'd be right there with you. That's a really dumb way to choose a leader."
  12. "Twice. Neither was particularly high up the chain of command, and both were emergencies. But yes."
  13. "Well, that works, I guess. But when you don't have anything to hang onto, and it's just you? It's actually really fun. My doctor says I'm very wrong about that." She'd actually also questioned his sanity.
  14. "Reasons. I've always enjoyed the parkour aspect. When there's a balcony or pipe you're going for."
  15. "So have I. If we meet another one, we can start a club." He snags a napkin from the other end of the table and hands it to her.
  16. "Lean forward then." Martin casts around, looking for a napkin. "Here, let me take some of that."
