Bro, there's a parrot watching you steal my paprika. Well, I wouldn't say we were surrounded, but... we were surrounded. -
"My name is Freya."

I thought so, but I wasn't sure. I spent pretty much the whole book thinking simultaneously thinking 'Eli reminds me of Kelsier' and 'I think I might die for Eli'. Also, because I forgot to mention this, there isn't romance! And that makes me so happy. It's just a heist story, it doesn't need romance. Very refreshing.

I read the first book, and my goodness. That was so good! I've got the second one on the way, and the third one will hopefully be coming soon as well. (Why did the covers change? Where can I find the white background ones for the first three?) That lady at the end, Bellhime? Belehime? gave me creeps. Something's up there, am I right?

I put down The Great Hunt fairly quickly. I might go back, but it was a very daunting series. I almost put down City of Brass out of frustration near the end, but I don't put down a lot of books. I like to finish, even if I'm not really invested.

Kindness stumbles, reaching up to her temples. Then, she giggles, as so much happiness washes over her. Her younger sister and all the other young hugspren. Running through the obsidian plains. Spinning around and around and around so her skirts flare out in pretty colors, and the gardens her family had visited. Then, one day, a fight, over something silly. A hair ribbon? Or a sash? She had run away, had sat on the empty plains by herself, before an irresistable pull that had spun her away, away, away, and into being. She had been alone then, like never before. There had always been someone. A neighbor, or a friend. But she hadn't noticed that that was missing. How was that possible? But even then, she had been happy. Because there where other people who were happy. She had made them happy, with a smile, or a hug, or a few times, even a flower petal. That one had been hard. Kindness blinks, shaking away the grasp of the memories now filling her head. She looks around at her friends. "I think they're back," she says, trying to smother a smile, and failing. "I remember!" She spins around like she had when she was little. After a moment, she stops. "I'm going to pass out now," she informs them. Then collapses.

I finished the Spirit Thief, which actually got recommended to me by someone on the Shard, I don't remember who. It was really good! If anyone else has read it, what did you think?
