  1. Yes, this is for the discussing of physical boats, and the sailing of them, in any of Brandon's books. Because I want to be confusing. My favorite boat is the Wandersail, the one that Vstim gives to Rysn in Oathbringer, because Rysn is one of my favorite characters.
  2. Boats! I'll start a topic to talk about actually water vessel ships in Brandon's books, because we need it.
  3. I've actually thought about this recently. I think that it is actually going to be Adolin, and that he has trained perfectly for the job. Adolin's calling is literally dueling, meaning that he has trained almost nonstop in a goal-oriented environment. He is also storming good at it. We know that he doesn't really like normal battle, that it isn't really a test of skill for him. In all the books, we hear him talking about Dueling, and we hear how good he is. We even have potential foreshadowing. When Dalinar is attempting to unite the Warcamps in WoR, he appoints Adolin as his champion to duel people for their shards. It would be beautiful if that happened again. Anyways, that's my two bits. Hope you enjoyed it.
  4. A few days ago, I decided to apply my Truthwatcher perspective to @Karger's theory of Truthwatcher Ideals. Because we can now sort ourselves into our orders, I believe we should apply our understanding of our order's mindset to the Ideals that Karger presented. If you are interested, claim your order and start a topic called "(your order) Ideals according to a(n) (your order)" If such a topic exists, please put your comments in there, everyone's perspective will help and be valued. I will link to the individual pages as they show up. Thank you for your time and consideration. Links: The Quiz
  5. @Karger Since we have new information about the orders of Knights Radiant, and a way of "sorting" ourselves into them, we should have members of each order review the Oaths as you present them, all in the framework of your pattern of oaths. Having people whose mindset aligns with the order talk about the Oaths will help shed a little bit more light about how the orders think and what they would want to do. I've taken the liberty of applying my Truthwatcher views to the Truthwatcher ideals already, anyone else onboard?
  6. You are absolutely right. I was just clarifying a little further
  7. @The_Truthwatcher The idea being "There's no apologizing for the truth", right? I honestly didn't think about that. It fits right in with at least my philosophy.
  8. @Watchcry as a way of explanation: You are absolutely right that the Idea of letting people be free is the basis of Willshapers. However, it is very important to let people believe what they want, even if that means they reject the Truth. (This is me talking from my Terry Pratchett background.) Also, if you look at the fourth Ideal with the Fifth (as I see them). It becomes much more clearly a Truthwatcher Ideal.
  9. First of all, this is a beautifully crafted theory, and I love it, and I think that these all could work as oaths. That being said, I am a Truthwatcher myself (identified by both the test and reading the order description), and I feel like I need to put my own two cents in. I noticed a pattern in the way the descriptions of the Orders are set up: For the orders we know oaths of, the beginning of their second Oath is the subtitle of their description. (off-topic ramble: I think that we should call the First Oath the "Radiant Oath" as that is where Radiance starts, and the next oath the First Oath of the specific order.) Windrunners start with "I will protect those who cannot protect themselves", Skybreakers with "I will seek justice above all else", and so on. Therefore, I believe that a Truthwatcher's second Oath will be something along the lines of "I will seek truth instead of lies" or "I will seek the truth and share what I find." If you take that as a base for the next oaths, the third, going off your oultine, would be: "I will seek truth not for my own gain, but for the good of all" The fourth as you wrote it does not fit completely into this framework. Your explanation of the fourth seems spot on, so a better oath, and fitting with what the fourth seems to be for a Windrunner, would be: "I will not force others to accept the truth." Your fifth fits in almost perfectly, and I think would be necessary for all Truthwatchers. However, I think with the focus on seeking the ultimate truth, the final thought about truth isn't cynicism, as you say. Yes, it is important to keep hope up, but the act of pursuing truth does not destroy it. I think the final oath would be "I will accept when I am wrong" Anyway you spin it, this theory was great, even if your oaths seem a little more Edgedancer to me. I'm fully prepared to admit that I'm wrong.
  10. If you really want to be underestimated, claim to be an Aluminum Gnat. Everyone will assume you are thoroughly useless, and you will be seen as no threat whatsoever. It's the perfect cover.
  11. I don't think that Autonomy is quite the opposite of Unity. The word doesn't suggest wanting to divide things, but rather wanting to stand by their own power, or the ability to make their own decisions. I think that Autonomy's goal is not necessarily to keep the shards apart, but to empower people to make their own decisions. I also think that Autonomy could be the only shard not overrun by their Intent, because of the Intent
  12. After a bit more study of Ascension, I think Dalinar definitely Ascended the same way the Lord Ruler did, and became a Sliver, rather than a shard.
  13. So what's your favorite Magic System?
  14. This is what I was referencing:
  15. I think you mean not necessarily. I am new, but an RAFO is neither a yes or a no to me. Also, if you have a source for Unity being a pronoun, I'd love to see it. I place a big emphasis on capitalization in my own reading.
  16. So I have this completely crazy theory about Shards and their intent. I don't know if this has come up before, but here it goes: We know from certain WoB that the number of shards wasn't limited to 16. There could have been more and there could have been less. We know that Odium, and possibly others are going around splintering Shards, which are already pieces of divinity. I believe (I'll have to check) that it has been said that when a shard is splintered, it can be put back together. This brings me to my claims. 1: Adonalsium was not broken along clear lines of intent, hence the term "shattering" Adonalsium was the whole, the infinity. And the next logical step 2: when a shard is splintered, it can be reassembled as a different intent. For this specific statement, I have some type of proof beyond just speculation. On Roshar, we know that there are three shards: Honor, Cultivation, and Odium. At the battle of Thaylen Field, Dalinar Ascended, written with a capital A. He tells Odium "I am Unity", again note the capital U. I believe that here, Dalinar somehow grabbed some splinters of Honor and Ascended with a new Intent.
  17. Probably Warbreaker because it's a really cool idea
  18. I am here. I think I'm okay
