Janice curls into a ball, the sting of retreating pain holding her breath. Twice. Twice in one day. Shhhhhh...hhhhhhhhh... She needed to leave this place... run away. Far away. But she couldn't move, though. She lay in the rubble of the explosion, tears mixing with the dust on her face and leaving streaks not unlike the dark ones that burned so much when the Whispers grew louder.

Janice starts screaming, the Whispers hissing louder and louder until-- A wave of power and destruction rips through the arena, blasting a crater into the ground and shattering anything unlucky enough to come in its way. The seats were mostly abandoned, but those who hadn't left were killed instantly. The shields surrounding the arena cracked and broke under the sheer power. When the dust settled, Janice lay crying in the crater.

Janice is incapable of answering, as she's trying to not scream in agony.

She collapses, clutching her head as tears leak out.

Janice is clutching her head, breathing laced with pain. Her eyes are screwed tight as her Traces burn. DESTROY!!!

Sille scoffs at the man. "Hey! The spot of villain is taken! I'm the bad guy here!"

Janice hesitates at her seat. What did she do? Everyone else was running towards the explosions... why did she want to do the same? SHHHH...HHH... Her Traces began to burn, and an involuntary tear of pain sprang to her eye.

Shhh...hhhh.... Janice's eyes widen. "JAY! RUN!"

I have a good idea for a villain. Sille enters the garden. "By right of conquest, I claim this land!"

I've never been a villain before. Can I be a villain? I can have Ellis spontaneously combust.

"Oh dear," Fadran replies, "that makes a lot of sense."

Janice calms down, taking a seat.

"I'm afraid this place is too auspicious to be boring! We're in a story now, and there isn't anything anyone can do about it."

Ellis pulls a cupcake out of thin air. "I have food."

"Dunno. Is it?"

"Stop them! St...stop it!"

"A squid? Birthing area of Sextuplets? Squid sent to die? Guy in a tree? Sounds like the kind of place you'd expect a dumb, out-of-the-way side prophecy to unfold."

Janice's breathing shallows, and she can't help but stare at the girl in the cage. "W...wait. No, they--they can't..."

"Don't ask me. I thought we'd established that I don't remember anything."

Janice is confused, but doesn't argue. Janice's eyes pull towards the arena as her mind tries to both stay in on the conversation and watch the competition.

"Couldn't agree more, seeing as how I have no idea why I'm here." He looks around. "I think I'm in the right place, though."

"I'm Ellis... I think."
