    "Are you seriously asking that? Right after she just exploded you guys?"

    Nearly an hour later, they found themselves at a large metal door.

    "Guys!" Ayia started to panic.

    "She's not afraid that you'd torture someone, kid. She's worried that she will."

    "We should double back a couple times. Just in case."

    She nodded at Janice. "That's why." Trace answered.

    Alex threw one more glance over his shoulder, then went down himself.

    "Cadenza..." Trace said from the side. "I know I'm not exactly the person you want to be hearing right now, but... would you ever want to be friends with... someone like me?"

    "I want to be, but... I shouldn't."

    Janice took a step back, shaking her head. "I don't... I thought I was."

    Alex nodded, then turned into an alleyway and pulled up a hidden trapdoor, gesturing to Davey to get inside.

    "I thought you were my friend," Janice said, voice almost at a whimper. "You told me you were my friend!"

    "No one?"

    "I SAID STOP IT!!!" Janice thrust out her arms and summoned a burst of force, hurling everyone away from her with a loud crash.

    Ayia woke up in the snow. Blinking soot out of her eyes, she sat up, grunting at the pain. "Guys?"

    "STOP IT! JUST STOP IT!" Janice's eyes darkened as her face contorted into a glare.

    "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?" Janice demanded. "I thought you were my friend!"

    "CADENZA!!" Janice screamed. But her face immediately replaced rage with fear, and she fell away from her.

    Janice only shook her head.

    "Cadenza!" Janice glanced over her shoulder, then leaned forwards and looked her in the eye. "Cadenza, you don't know what the Queen's doing to her. You don't understand what she's doing--and you shouldn't. No one should. It doesn't matter how bad someone is; nobody deserves to go through that." She turned dipped her head and closed her eyes. "I... can't believe you'd try to justify someone else hurting." She looked back up, a tear running down her face. "You were fine when I hurt you! I've hurt all of you so many times! How is it okay that I hurt you, but not okay when anybody else does? Cadenza, I almost killed you! I--" her eyes fell on the running scar from the dagger in Cadenza's arm, and the last of her words died in her throat, replaced with sobs. She collapsed onto her knees, buried her face in her hands, and cried. @Matrim's Dice @Vapor @Random Bystander

    "You don't know what the Queen is doing to her," Janice said, voice breaking a little. "Cadenza, it's... she's... I'm..."

    "Cadenza..." Janice said, voice low. "I know that she's... y'know, Trace, but... that doesn't mean we shouldn't help her."

    Janice shot Cadenza a shocked glance, then calmed her expression. She gestured at Cadenza to come over to her.

    "I guess that... makes sense." Janice's thought process seemed conflicted. She looked over at Trace. "You said you... needed our help?"

    Ayia wasted no time. She shot up her Line towards the nearest monk. With a grunt, she smashed her first staff into their head. @xinoehp512
