Vance shook it, somewhat hesitantly. "But it was taking orders from you."

"That was--" Vance stood up, instinctively putting himself between the boy and Kealie, "your golem?"

Vance turned around. Was that voice he'd just heard? "Hello?" He called out.

The portal appeared as a freestanding doorway, glowing with an etheral light. It looked perfectly normal otherwise (if any door could look normal without a wall to accompany it), though a certain lack of rightness seemed to surround the whole thing. It could technically open from both ends, though Fadran stood at one side to make sure everyone lined up properly. "So this is the plan!" He announced, a little miffed at having to make a mission already. "We're going to go through here and we are going to rescue Tacien. That is our primary goal, and this mission will be considered a fail if we don't complete that. Depending on the situation, we might be able to capture some of this organization's agents - if we do, please do not harm them. Just restrain or incapacitate who you can and rendez-vous back at the portal to bring them back here. "In the event that we find ourselves in a large complex or some other kind of place where Tacien's location is unclear, we're to split into teams of three. I'll be with Cufre and Rayvyn if that is the case. Nath will lead one, Enter will lead another; all the leftovers can figure it out from there. You are not to kill anyone unless absolutely necessary." He stared pointedly at Rayvyn. "Everyone got that?"

"Death sounds pretty boring to me, honestly."

"Nearly, though I'm not entirely sure who I should be taking."

"Perhaps the most glaring differences between cultures is how they view death." Fadran said.

"How's about," Fadran said, "we don't kill anyone while the kid is there?"

"A parasite? Have you tried salt?"

"What the heck is going on?" Fadran whisper-hissed.

Fadran came out of the bathroom to see the creepy shadow guy eating Dave. "You okay?" He asked, somewhat rhetorically.

"...Eej?" Vance really didn't understand the full extent of what was happening. Sweat rolled down his brow, and tremors worked their way into his fingertips. "...Kealie?" They were okay, right? They were okay. They had to be okay. It's my fault if they're not okay. The golem and demon were still fighting, so they had some time at the very least. At the moment it wasn't very clear which one was winning, but he figured they'd know soon enough. Even if the golem didn't win it would've weakened the demon some, and... maybe Vance could defeat it from there? If he had the aether stone, it was just about decided, but without it... Where in the world did it go? "You're gonna be alright, kay?" Vance knelt down for a moment and pressed a hand against Kealie's forehead. Hot. Too hot. He peeled off the blindfold and dropped it by her hand. "Just breathe. Stay here. I'll take care of this. We'll be fine."

It isn't hers? Vance started jogging towards her. At the very least they weren't in any immediate danger with that thing on their side.

Vance was back up again, but still stumbled about in a pained stupor. That... was a golem, right? "...Kealie?"

That was... a golem. Had Kealie summoned a golem?

"Not quite, but almost."
