  1. "You've continuously accused him of harming Tacien, but he wasn't in the room when Tacien showed up harmed."
  2. "Crap-" Vance blazed out with his energy, covering both him and Kealie with an incredibly dense cone of cutting wind.
  3. "Yelling has, as you might imagine, gotten us nowhere." Fadran glanced back at the little lad. "Not to mention you've been scaring the poor kid. How's about instead of pointing fingers we talk about it reasonably like reasonable people?"
  4. First strikes were, more often than not, easy enough to dodge. Vance vaulted to the side and came up with a roll, subtly pushing out the air around him to make a weak force field. Knowing Kealie she'd be fine as well, but trying to fight against this thing and protect her at the same time was... somewhat ludicrous. Against this thing, it almost definitely would be better in most situations just to run. There was, of course, a problem with that. "Retrive Aether stone. Kill everyone." Where in the world did a witch like that get a leash on something like this? Vance started circling about the demon, staying clear of its attack radius for the time being. Though I've been thinking that a lot recently, come to think of it. Maybe I just underestimated her. Summoning a demon was one thing. Commanding one was another. No doubt this creature was the culmination of months' - possible years' - worth of efforts. And it was worth expending for this stone? No shot she's working alone. Vance had circled back around to near Kealie. Too bad she gave us the slip... though I doubt this will be the last we've seen of her. Well... unless we die here, that is. "Support caster," Vance said, half-guarding Kealie with his stance, "means a less offensive role in combat. Instead of hurling fireballs or hitting things with pointy sticks, you stay back and control the battlefield to be as advantageous as possible for your teammates. Your powers are perfect for that - especially if you do it subtly and make sure not to eat up too much of your own energy." Against this thing? Without any doubles training? It would be shoddy work at best. But Kealie learned quick. Surely her help would turn out to be invaluable at best. "Try not to do anything big and dramatic like that tree or the lava pit," he explained. "It'll drain you a lot quicker - not to mention you might stop believing in it. Simple things like putting a root in their way, smoothing the ground underneath me; stuff like that. Lots of people look past the small things like that, but it's really the most unnoticeable changes that are most invaluable to setting the terrain for yourself in battle."
  5. "Ah... snap. You're right." Vance whipped out both his knives. "Well, if you've ever wanted to learn to be a support caster, then now is certainly prime time to learn."
  6. Oh damn. Vance thought to himself. "Stay back!" He ordered. "I'll take care of this... guy. See if you can tie up the witch or something if you get the chance."
  7. "Icona?" Honestly. You should've asked sooner. A wave of force washed over the hallway. The rooms seemed to vanish from around them, replacing the scenery with an infinite plane of white. "Can everyone," Fadran said, "just shut for a moment?"
  8. "I'm just as flabbergasted." Especially considering there aren't supposed to be any evil sorts coming in here... "I think they might've been misinformed."
  9. Fadran first stepped inside and closed the door. "The kid. You're his brother? Just for the record."
